Cuttle did not remember much of the time before the Emperor anymore. And although she tried, she could never forget the attack itself.
But the attack is not important. I won't bore you with stories of how she ducked underneath broken pillars, hiding in small cracks. How a large snout pushed in, the only thing separating her and it a crumbling piece of wall. How she sat there in the dark, even long after everything fell quiet.

No. The important thing is that she got up again and stepped out into the gleaming sunlight.
Cuttle was a young dragon at the time. She began searching for her old clan.
Not many had survived, and those who had were wounded badly. Venus, an alchemist from another destroyed clan, helped her with treating them. Soon, a close group of survivors formed, with Cuttle as their leader.
These were hard times for Light; and it only got worse after the Lightweaver talked for the last time.
Groups of rouges and booty hunters descended upon the Light clans, imprisoning or killing any Imperials they found.
Cuttle became known for her morals. She would help any dragon, no matter their breed, and she stood by it even as the clan was forced to move and go into hiding. Cuttle could keep the clan together. There was never any doubt that they would stay together. Her dragons helped each other even through the darkest times. But Cuttle couldn't defend her clan from outside. Without Firestorm - an old warrior who had lost his charge in the attack - they would never have survived long enough to meet Ruby's clan.

There is a piazza surrounded by ruins, on the border between the Ruins and the Dark City.
There's Skydancers, Nocturnes and Spirals living in the sky above it.
Fae and Banescales claim the upper floors of the surrounding buildings as their own.
Coatls, Imperials, Pearlcatchers, Guardians and Tundras have settled down in various places of the ruins.
There's Bogsneaks and Mirrors hunting and sleeping in the ancient streets surrounding the piazza.
And finally, Snappers and Gaolers living in the basement, sometimes coming up to meet other dragons.

The piazza is in the center of it all. The place where, years ago, two orphans have met and decided to build a family, a clan.
And, of course, there is also a tunnel, leading from the basement into the deepest, darkest part of the Dark City, a place where Emperors rest and leylines meet - the only meeting point that is not controlled by the eleven eyes.
But that is another story…

At the beginning, mostly misfits and travelers came to the clan. But as the clan grew, so did it's fame.

Until, one day, the Light councilours found out about [insert story about illegal exploits by Tech Team concerning the fabric of reality]. The clan was forced to make a decision: Either they must disband, or move to another element.
Many members left the clan that day, unwilling to give up their home in Light. The rest took a vote.
It was a close run between Fire, Ice (both didn't make it because of the climate), Arcane and Lightning. Finally, the clan settled for Lightning.
