Biography
Veamund Halvard
Barbarian • Role ~ Stoic • Unsociable • Traditional • Softhearted

Notes: (Vee-yah-mund) Veamund is a play on Gudmund which is Old Norse for "God-Protection" Halvard- Old Norse for "Rock guardian" Having come from an old-as-dirt Earth clan along the north coast of Dragonhome, Veamund and his clanmates never saw much of the outside world--merely confined to their tight-nit clan tucked away in a rocky coastal eden. The small clan was culturally ridgid, keeping to the region's old tradition synonymous with the preservation of the past. --Now permanently living in a nomadic state, Fighting to cleanse the land sort of thing Veamund couldn't believe his old eyes. His wild eyebrows looked like they wanted to curse the view they pointed at. A looming range of dark mountains jousted through the arid, earthy landscape. Their peaks were so high and sharp they looked like enormous pieces of slate had been snapped off by the Earthshaker himself. Veamund had only ever seen them from a distance, his coastal home village being such a far journey away. Yet they still were not far enough to settle away from their persecution. Veamund could imagine Il'ike commenting like a student who had forced themselves to remember just what would be on the test: "The Pillar of the World was made from rings of stone from Mount. Obelisk. I can't believe it's older than the pillar." "It looks it too." He could imagine himself replying. The dirt this far inland had the pattern of dry water, if that were possible. The cracking, slaty dirt crumpled under Veamund's talons and he wished for only a moment that he could at least be looking at the wooden dock stilts slicing the waves again. Not for while. Probably never. After a moment of eyeing the odd shadowed mountains, he frowned. "What an obscene tear on the land. What could have done this?" Veamund continued to scold the rift in the distance. He was no doubt in awe, but too disgusted to find any aside interest. He could only stare. "The Arcanist? The Shade? What else can you name that has ripped holes in space-time before?" Il'ike jested, craning her neck to follow Veamund's wide glare. The elder grimaced, quickly prodding the younger dragon with a sharp, angry look. "Still, V'. How long do you think it's been like this?" Il'ike asked, glancing upward toward the jutting peaks of the spike mountains that seemed to contain the anomalous valley. A few dragons seemed to circle overhead, occasionally sipping into the odd shadow of the valley, only to quickly fly back out. "Too long." Veamund breathed. Il'ike nodded, looking down. After a moment, she broke the silence, "We should look for a town that will take us for the night. We'll figure things out tomorrow." Il'ike said. Veamund --- "I'd call you traditional, personally." Il'ike said smirking. By: Emordnilap Goat (Thanks Frye!) applied 7/23/2020 |
