Biography

Ivy
The Lore Keeper

"Hm? Oh I'm Ivy. I may not be able to see very well, but I like stories! I don't have any of my own, so I keep track of everything my clan has written. At least, the ones with no owners. Would that make me their owner? None of them are about me, so I guess not. Feel free to stay a while, I can read you anything you'd like!"

I keep like to keep track of my writing contest entries/lore bits here, at least the ones that can't go on another dragon.

The Dancer

Darkness.

Silence.

Anticipation.

She could almost feel the world holding its breath. As if her own weren't caught in her throat.

A moment, then movement.

Not her own, of course, not yet. Instead, the heavy velvet of a stage curtain being dragged aside. Her heartbeat was deafening in the dark. She dared not move, dared not snap the thread of anticipation.

A moment, then light.

A single spotlight flared to life, casting a blinding beam on center stage. Blinding only for herself, of course. In this moment, the audience could see her clear as day. Her reveal brought on gasps of awe.

She was still, statuesque, frozen like the figurine at the center of a music box. Not even the fabric she wore dared to move.

Her head was turned upward, almost directly into the overhead light. She breathed out.

A moment, then music.

It began slowly, as did she. A simple melody of hand drum and carved flute floating through the open space; the perfect background to the spiraling dancer.

She commanded absolute attention, not a single eye could leave her form. The spotlight burned into her, scattering sunset colors across the stage. Maroon wings looked almost magenta under such bright lights.

The glittering chimes she wore beat against her scales with every step, perfectly accenting the heavy drum beat.

She could feel the moment build and build and build, every step and sway speeding alongside the melody reaching its peak. Every spin left her reeling, but she knew the effect would be breathtaking.

All at once the wave of energy and music crested and crashed, leaving her still once more, posed and breathing heavily.

A moment, then elation.

She could feel the thunder of applause, even as her ears rang. Her every muscle ached to be still, to relax and fall in a heap. Her claws were sore and her head pulsed, but still she smiled. She smiled and beamed and bowed, chimes jingling as she ducked her head to the crowd.

It was what she lived for.

Open the Flower

Eltanin steps up to the plant, excited to test her skills. Magic without words was difficult but not impossible. With a careful claw, the pearlcatcher begins to draw several small glyphs in a circle around the flower, shifting the soil so that the marks were clear. She set the marks alight with a sharp clap, a violet arcane glow lighting up the bloom. With the sigils in place, she began a simple growth spell, hoping that her magic may allow the flower to bloom.

To begin, gather one of each of the following:
Flamerest Embers Beeswax Hardy Antler
Orthoclase Jasper Azurite
Pink Chalcedony Emerald Chrysoberyl
Preparation:
  1. Melt beeswax in a cauldron over flamerest embers
  2. Grind each stone into a fine powder and pour into the melted wax
  3. Stir well with a hardy antler until the powdered stones are fully dispersed
  4. Wait for the wax mix to cool almost all the way, then dip your dominant claw up to the wrist in the wax. Make sure to fully coat each digit

If all was done correctly, you might* finally be able to win that claw wrestling competition!

*Results may vary, but your claw will still look super cool and sparkly
