They/Them

Rumors say that Nebula arrived within Nostalgia's borders on a foggy night, out of the sky itself. That for many days after, one could not even look at them, for how brightly they did shine. That they are older than ground they now tread upon. That they are younger than some still considered children.

These rumors are mostly true.

That which fills space is often heralded as a symbol of curiosity. The eagerness to know more of that which is too far away to grasp, and too foreign in nature to understand. There are countless who dedicate their lives to a desire to understand the stars; Few seems to consider that the stars wish to understand them just as well.

Nebula is one of many born of this curiosity. Surely not the first, inevitably not the last, almost certainly not the only to exist even at this time. But, perhaps, one of only few to have survived the particular manner of their journey. It is very rare for a star to truly fall after all.

In Nebula's descent they were found by yet another admirer of the stars. Some portion of the clouds themselves, which took pity upon their scorching crash, and wrapped themselves around the star protectively to help ease their fall. This was Nebula's first introduction to a consciousness outside the network of stars which - until then - made up their entire existence; It was also their introduction to a new form of love.

They landed on the outskirts of the clan's main foundation in a flash of light, and still searing to the touch, were left there to sleep for the many weeks they failed to even stir. Eventually they did wake of course, and despite the mutual wariness between Nebula and the many who could finally, truly greet them, found themselves a home within the clan. They were born with the collective knowledge of all the stars they were once a part of, and yet their understanding of the world around them; Of other living things, of art, and wonder, and strife, and grief, were undeniably naive. Everything was much smaller than they were accustomed to; And yet the scope of new things to understand was insurmountable. Exhaustion from their journey was first of many they would come to experience in their new life, as well as the love they still share with Skiron.

The personality of a star is, while not completely vacant, surely ethereal in nature, but over time facets of Nebula's own personality have started to shine. Albeit subtly. They often seem more serious than others know how to navigate around, but at least part of this is simply from unfamiliarity with social cues. There is much to be said of their generosity, protectiveness, and the passion they invest in life despite that stoic disposition. And perhaps most noteworthy of all, their curiosity and eagerness to understand is befit of those newly born.

During their few years with the clan so far, they have taken to learning about many things, but one craft of particular fondness to them is blowing glass - something often remarked as fitting given the appearance of their horns. They are regularly tasked with both artistic and practical glasswork, for their handling of the material is seemingly unmatched, and find themselves very content doing so with the company of their partner.

Alas, their existence has its purpose set in stone, and a happy life will not make it change. To exist as a paladin of the stars themselves is a great honor; To become one with them again is even greater. And yet...
