Elouan was born with two different flights in his blood, Light and Arcane, but with Pazienza's encouragement, his adoptive parents agreed to not remove the 'tainted' eye prematurely. He was forced to wear an eye patch from the moment he left his room to the moment he retired to it, the only exception being combat training. When he came of age and was near the completion of his training, he was told he had to remove the eye in order to 'prove' to the Lightweaver that he was as devoted to Her as he's always claimed.
It wasn't until after the deed was done, and he was fully healed, that his dream of becoming a warrior was shattered because of his forced self-mutilation. Though his only eye has adjusted well, he now spends his days secluded to the Pillars' library, tending to it and keeping track of new information, and does what he can to suppress and ignore the slowly growing resentment he has towards the Lightweaver for the eye debacle.
When he's not buried in his work, he spends his nights gazing out his room's window at the stars, fantasizing about what could've, should've, been.
