Lore

At the heart of the meadow a sunset of petals grows, patches of tiger lily, marigold and lantana swirling through the long grass. This part of the meadow is alive with dragons in many shades of orange, and among the flowers hatchlings dance and chase butterflies, their eyes alight with energy. These are the playful, the eager and joyful, the ones who live life in the present and savour each moment of light.

Eagleflame is the mother of many, and the idol of each dragon who plays in the marigold spiral. She was the first to come, first to settle in the meadow and make it her home, and from her haven of flowers grew the rest of the meadow, spreading and fading to reds, pinks, purples, blues, golds, and each and every little section of the Clan knew it's origin and thanked her for it.

The forest had come first, and all in each half of the Clan of the Valley told Dapplestar's legend, but the time came when those who yearned to see the sky and feel the breeze, and be alive with a more open wilderness, decided that they must create a new part of the Clan, and so Eagleflame's tale began.

She was the leader of the few who had said their goodbyes and promised to visit, the leader of the few who set off towards the edge of the forest. The woods were huge, but at last they came to a stream and the boundary between their old and their new home, for as soon as they set eyes on the vast golden expanse of meadow, they knew that this was where they belonged.

That night they camped at the edge of the forest, and as each dragon fell into slumber, Eagleflame felt the meadow calling. She wandered through the long grass, her wings sweeping through the stalks, carving patterns across the fields. A deep thrum, full of energy, began, reverberating in her heart and leading her towards a single, flat boulder placed at the centre of the meadow. The meadow heart.

Some strange elemental magic was at work, and the air was stiff with anticipation. Eagleflame slowly reached out, controlled by a higher force, and placed her talons in the middle of the stone. Immediately, strange golden spirals began to glow, spreading out from her claws. She gasped, but could not move, only watch in awe as the glowing spirals began to bloom, rising up until all around her was a sunset of petals.

Now she could move, and she placed a talon on the ground and willed a marigold to grow in that place. It did.

That morning she brought the rest of the few who had come to the meadow and showed them her creation. They settled, and ever since, Eagleflame has chosen a dragon every so often to bestow with the powers of growth and new life, and a new flower spiral has been created. The Clan of the Blooming Meadow has grown and become so much more than it was in the beginning, settling in the many patches of colour and light, and yet all remember their founder, and the Marigold Spiral, the heart of their Clan.

~~~
Eagleflame, known to close friends and family simply as Eagle, is a gentle, yet fierce and energetic young coatl. She has a passion for nature, and will gladly take a walk on the wild side, journeying through field and forest to seek new places to explore.
Poetry
Written by AttilaThePun:
You might think that you know of her
You might have heard her name
But hearing and believing tales
Are not the one and same.
The spirals bloom beneath her feet
The flowers each proclaim:
She's filled with nature's energy
You cannot hope to tame
So come and see her meadow stone,
You'll see it's not fake fame.
She's so much more than all you've heard;
She is the Eagleflame!I
Written by Kilonian:
In the flower field
Marigolds twined together
To grow love for all
Written by StarryLune:
the meadow of flowers peered at her
stars and moon smiling down as she brushed past
grass as soft as feathers shuddered at her touch
it was the dead of the night and yet she was awake
there was a voice in her heart
it was drawing her to the very center of the field
the enthralled dragon found her way to a clearing
there stood a smooth, flat stone
her desire grew even stronger upon the sight
of the sleek and flat boulder
when her limp paw nudged its surface
her destiny took a different route
tendrils of golden wrapped around her paw
she stood there in frozen astonishment
until there was a carpet of marigold petals
blossoming all around her, a magical sight
amidst the whirlwind of blooms she extended a paw
and a marigold blossomed at her will
she was chosen to found this clan.
and found she did.
The Hatchling’s Question
Why do they call you Eagleflame?
For an eagle hunts and kills its prey
rips and tears life away
For a flame devours all in its path
burns and destroys everything
But you are a beacon of hope and life to this clan
calling forth beauty
awakening spring
Why then do you keep your name?
My dear one
no one chooses their name
only what we choose to do with it
For like the eagle I live to bring hope through trial
and life through adversity
For like the flame I live to bring light and warmth
into the darkest of times
I’ve heard it said
gentleness is only helplessness
when no strength is being held at bay
Living up to your name is a choice
and gentleness and peace are how I choose to be Eagleflame
Correspondence (Lore)
Eagleflame's correspondence to dragons within and without the clan, in chronological order.
(Just ask for your dragon to be incorporated into this!)
Eagle wrote:
Dear Dapplestar,
We are settling in well in our new home at the Meadow. It feels good to have the full warmth of the sun upon my scales, and to run through such long grass. The hatchlings we brought along love it here. I am glad to inform you that Paradise has grown into a strong, independent young dragon and has left for another clan. Cosmos will follow in his brother's footsteps any day now.
We have been joined by some travellers, too. Pansy, a very sweet young fae, and Cornflower, his mate. The two are settling in well in our Forget-Me-Not Ring, which leads me onto the subject of the Marigold Spiral. I grew it from my own talons, a beautiful golden and orange circle of flowerbeds. I really am rather proud of this creation, if I do say so myself, and I think the Meadow is finally taking on a homely feel.
How are you and the rest of the forest clan? I hope you are well, and I shall visit soon (or perhaps you could visit our new home?).
I have attached some dried flowers to the message ~ a little souvenir from the Meadow.
Kind Regards,
Eagle <3
Dear Eagleflame,
Thank you for your well wishes, we are doing well here in the forest. I must admit, I have missed your company and that of the others who left, but I am glad you are all happy in your new home. I do plan on visiting as soon as possible, but I am afraid that I am rather busy in the Forest at the moment. We have a few new members to the clan as well, some of which I cannot say I am pleased about.
Vinepelt went to the doors club again last week - even though he knows how I feel about him playing so much - and when he came back, he was being trailed by a guardian! She's a tricksy young dragon, the happy-go-lucky sort, and while she's not so bad once you get to know her, I am still quite mad at Vine for bringing her back.
The other arrival is quite strange, a pearlcatcher with an odd name... Neckloona? Ah, Nixluna. Apparently it translates to something like nightmoon in another language, which I have to say sounds shifty. It suites her. She's been slinking around in the past few days, after arriving with some tale that she was searching for a mate so she could carry on her bloodline. I know it's not very nice to say so, but I do hope she doesn't stay too long.
I've been meaning to ask - how is the child? Grown at all? The chocolate coatl kid, ah, whatshisname, you know? Nevermind, I'm sure if you know what I mean you'll reply. Honestly I reckon it's the stress of leading the clan that's making my brain do somersaults!
Have fun in the sun, we're all thinking of you ×××
Best wishes,
Dapplestar
Dear Dapple,
I've been asking around, and that Nixluna you've been talking of? Apparently she's a descendant of some dragon who messed with the Shadowbind. Their bloodline was cursed, but then the curse was broken when another of her ancestors gave up her own children. Honestly, I can understand why she wants hatchlings. Try to be kind to her, she might just surprise you.
Orville is... Still very young. Orchid is researching the condition, and apparently there are many cases similar to his. From what we have discovered so far, he is an eternally youthful dragon - meaning he is immortal, and will remain a child forever. We have yet to figure out the cause.
There is not much else to tell you, as things have been pretty quiet around her recently.
Love, Eagle <3
Hello there!
My name is Asphodel, and I am named for a flower of death. Although I cannot bring beauty into the world as you can, the flowers you grow bring me much joy. Life and death are in an eternal balance, and while both are needed and beautiful, what you do always brings a smile to my face (and to the faces of all my flower friends!) thank you for your joy!
63269487_350.pngThank you for your invitation to visit you in your meadow, but I'm afraid I have to decline.
The place I'm from is not... friendly. I still wear the scars I earned there. Some of them can be seen but the others are inside me still. I came to the Shrieking Wilds to escape and search for peace but it seems everywhere I go, death follows.
I came across your meadow, and there were flowers everywhere. For the first time in a long time I felt... something akin to hope. There was so much life, and colour. Everything was green and growing, and the hatchlings were playing.
I saw you in the center of your meadow,
and I took one step towards you.
I looked down
and beneath my claw was a crushed flower.
And so I left.
Perhaps one day I'll visit you in your meadow properly.
I look forward to that day.
Regards,
Spoon
Dearest Eagleflame who walks among the marigolds,
A war is coming. I sense it on the ancient winds. In my raven form I have wandered the skies... waiting, watching. Darkness crawls across the land like a newborn wyrmling, reaching out and taking all it can into its ravenous mouth.
Your fields were one spot of light in a bramble of darkness.
I write to warn you and the others you safely guard. Prepare. Become ready. A war is coming, and even the lady of death may not survive.
