Introduction Bubbling, blubbering, bountiful beasts- the trees and eaves are alive with every crawling little monster, making their way through a world that's just too big for any creature to fit into. The insects take refuge in the cracks of the bark on trees, the bats cling to their caves, and the dragons build up their own shelters- homes and hovels and habitats. If a bug can spend all its days under a rock, believing the world is not so vast and terrifying, could a dragon not do the same curled up by the cookpot and the window? They do! And isn't it wonderful! All these bits of poetry are the words Jalapeno can't conjure up. Her concise way of speaking summarizes all the meaning and none of the evidence into five little words: "we are animals too, see?" Usually punctuated by her holding up a fat frog in gentle claws, far too close to the face of the unfortunate listener, this little phrase doesn't win the odd bog much social credit. Despite her lack of finesse, contrasted with her abundance of worldly understanding, and compared with he preposterous sense of dress- that skull reeks like she never cleaned it when she stuck it over her head- Jalapeno is something that other dragons just don't know what to do with. Leaving her to her own... Froggy, devices, seems to work far better. If she gets the chance, her rambling always ends up on those little suckers and their sibling species, toads. Frogs are her thesis to the world she sees; frogs are not friends, they are family. They are like her- they love the water and the muck, the taste of buzzing flies, and shape their world by covering themselves with reeds and weeds and seeding themselves deep into the mud. Frogs are family, because once your world is the same shape and size as each others, there's only so many ways you can differ. It's a respective thing, or as she calls it, "See like them!" It's the spice of life. Her in the bog with the animals, sniffing when they do, eating what they eat, running where they run. And frogs could never be the only subject of fascination, now- Maybe in a year's time, birds could be the fascination. Or wolves. Cave bears, perhaps? Other dragons? She's happy with the frogs though. They don't need wings, or claws, or thumbs. They're perfect. Blobby, bulbous, lazy green frogs- just like herself. Her clan could use some reminders of that truth when they lose their patience after she shoves another one up to their snouts to show off their new lumps and warts. They're the spice of not just her life, but all life- all animals bring their own spice to the living world. Let the great guacamole mix of the bog be shared to all who will hear its praises! - Familiar handler and beastmaster, is in charge of all the familiars but especially loves her pet frogs and toads (other amphibians/reptiles are a close second)
- dream is to one day own all the boss frogs
- is oddly social and cheery for a bogsneak, can and will talk your ear off about whatever has caught her interest in the moment. Doesn't have the biggest vocabulary but this only increases her power.
- prefers to work in the dark coolness of the lair's caverns rather than outside in the heat
- the best at hide and go seek with the hatchlings
- a bit lazy, but does good work with the animals
- dragons of higher society may find her distasteful due to her sense of fashion...or lack thereof
- hobby: poking desert rain frogs (gently) to coax out their symphonies of cute warbling songs (she only does this to wild ones, of course - not her own pets)
- mostly vegetarian
- doesn't usually hang out with other dragons, but is friends with Drear (they're both weird and Jalapeno does enough talking for the both of them) and Ranunculus (R works in the same location and is good at listening to her ramblings)
