Biography
Random Progenitor, co-ruler of the Clan with Morgana.
Merlin was the first, albeit accidental, victim of Morgana's breed change ritual's memory erasing side effect. He seems to have no idea he was hatched a Guardian, and appears to believes Morgana when she tells him they are siblings. He has no memory of his and Morgana's first, and for centuries only, nest together. He has absolutely no idea he has a living granddaughter from that first nest.

“You summoned me, sister? That’s a little rude,” he said lazily, losing focus on the queen and looking around the throne room as if he’d never seen it before.
“Yes. I apologize, but I have words for your ears alone. I need you to focus on what I’m telling you,” the queen replied, as usual no tone in her voice and no hint of emotion displayed by her crests.
With an unexpected sharpness in his usually lackadaisical gaze, Merlin looked at his sister. Those who did not know her well would have missed her slight hint of fear. Despite his constantly befuddled appearance, he did not. “Alright, proceed.”
Noting the strange intelligence that returned to his eyes for the first time since he underwent her breed changing ritual, Morgana proceeded with an unusual trepidation. “We… are not siblings. When we met in what was then this unclaimed land, you were a Guardian. I recognized your strength, and I wanted to keep you near me always. You were my first friend. I wanted you to be more like me, so I asked you to be the first subject of the breed changing ritual I had researched but never tried before. Something went wrong, and you lost your memory. I made a terrible decision to tell you that we are siblings so you could never leave me. I feared that if you were given the freedom to start over, you would choose to leave me.”
“I know.”
“You knew?” the queen replied, for once unable to mask her shock and horror.
“I did not know that exactly. I knew something was wrong. I have always been strangely, unnaturally drawn to you, but I felt you did not want me for me, so I let it go. I let everything go. But now everything makes sense. When I was a Guardian, you must have been my Charge.”
With tears in her eyes, Morgana asked, “Can you forgive me?”
Not bothering to hide the flow of his own tears, Merlin reached to embrace her for the first time in centuries. “Of course. The only light in my darkness, it was you. It was always you.”
After a moment of holding each other, Merlin broke the silence. “But why are you telling me this now?”
“Well, that’s a long story…”
