Cherry is kind-hearted by nature, though this brought much scorn from others of her breed. This did not discourage her parents, though. "Cherry is a shy dragon who just loves to be pat on the head! She enjoys running and playing, and better yet, she’s adorable!" Taking her personality into consideration, her parents intended her to be part of the Keeper order, guarding the lesser shades in the mid-levels of her assigned ward. However, taking pity on Cherry, SugarSnap sought aid from the Arcanist. He saw Cherry's kindness, but was also able to discern her protective nature laying dormant due to her young age.

He sent her to be among a newly formed clan in the Crystalspine Reaches known for picking up strays. There, among the Esoteric Enclave, she found the warmth and affection by the founders, Rhyme and Reason. She vowed, in her heart of hearts, that she would do anything for them. She also knew the danger that her clan could get into, being so close to the Shade. As she grew, she took on the role of Caretaker of Hatchlings, and giving them the affection they need to grow. However, she also trained extensively to be able to defend her small charges should anything sinister arise from any rampant Shade activity.
