Samuel ran away from home as a young tundra because nobody would call him a boy. He originally wanted to swear loyalty to the Icewarden, but since finding an isolated forest village, he has taken kindly to the Gladekeeper. He has a friendly personality, but is timid, and can cry easily. He’s very sensitive about the way he was born, but a friend with a similar situation, a gaoler named Ingrid, has helped him through these rough times, and socialized him within the village.
You can usually see him taking up gardening, and inside his house he keeps a collection of insects.
Ingrid and Olga have basically adopted him.
Samuel’s role in the village was as one of the many mediators. He teaches the hatchlings all about kindness and respect, and also to respect nature. He also teaches others not to fear “gross” or “scary” animals like bugs and reptiles.

He has been so kind to everyone and such a great help, that he has now been appointed prince of the village by the queen. He is very good at keeping such an honor.
