Few things can annoy a dragon as much as clothing that doesn't fit quite right. All that work to put it on in the first place, and the reward is bent frills, obstructed wings, and cloth tearing on claws and horns. Just awful.

Okay, maybe poorly fitted clothing isn't quite that bad. That doesn't mean Galakonur isn't here for the dragons suffering under the oppressive forces of fashion though. She might not be much for designing outfits, but Galakonur's skills with working cloth and her overall ingenuity are very impressive. She can take an outfit designed for a pearlcatcher and tailor it to fit a mirror, and even make it look like it was designed that way. Or she can take clothes designed for a fae, and sew them to fit a weirder, more mutated fae. (If you need re-tailoring for dragons of wildly different sizes, get an arcane mage to cast some enlarging/reducing magic first, then come to Galakonur.)

But that's not Galakonur's most requested service. She's a tailoring engineer! Where her real talent lies is in creating methods to make draconic clothing work in the first place. This is necessary for nearly any apparel, but triply so for the overdone "fashion" that Kushiel likes to design. She's developed twelve different methods for fastening clothes around wings, some of which are even comfortable. Whether through magnets or just a whole lot of rope, she can find a way to allow her clanmates to look excellent midflight, without any risk of the outfit slipping off. Or worse, becoming hopelessly in someone's wings and causing an accident. Galakonur also builds devices for dragons such as wildclaws and coatls, who have arms too short to reach much of their bodies, so that they can actually get dressed in their impractical getups by themselves. Usually, adding some extra cords to the clothing so there's something for the dragon to grab onto is enough, but Galakonur's had to set up a complicated pulley system inside a few dens to make wearing some outfits possible.

By far, the most complex tailoring work she has to do is the frequent historical costumes for Lumisa. How on Sornieth did those dragons ever put on such ludicrous ceremonial outfits in the first place? Well, according to Lumisa they had armies of servants for the job. The better question might be how Lumisa will get in and out of said outfits. Galakonur sure isn't going to do that work every time.

But while she might enjoy tailoring, it isn't Galakonur's true passion. That would be mapmaking. She might be a shadow dragon, but it's the craft of the wind flight that really draws her. Whether it's mapping the islands from above or drawing out the maze-like hallways of the fortress, there's nothing else that Galakonur can so singly focus on. She'll be so focused on visualizing corridor layouts that she'll often walk right into the walls, and occasionally other dragons. Regardless of which one it is, she always makes sure to apologize to them immediately. And then apologize to them a second time as she uses immdeiately them as a writing surface.

It was Galakonur's penchant for map-making that caused Minya to suspect her for an enemy spy for a short while. It wasn't a completely unreasonable conclusion. She likes making maps of the clan territory and the fortress itself, and often sells them as souvenirs to visitors to the island. Anyone of those dragons could belong to hostile clans looking for solid information to plan a raid with. It wasn't until Minya actually got around to checking her maps that it became clear Galakonur wasn't a spy. Mostly because if she was, then she was a completely useless one.

For Galakonur's maps are spectacularly inaccurate. Astonishingly, even. Trying to navigate using one would be about as effective as navigating using some blank parchment covered in tea stains. To her credit, Galakonur's pendragonship is very fine, and her maps are quite beautiful. It's just that if you're selling maps of one place, the uniqueness of those maps shouldn't be a selling point. The only conclusion is that she hatched without a sense of direction, and was never able to find one. It'd explain why she keeps setting up new tailoring workshops. She genuinely can't find her way to the old ones!

Not that Galakonur realizes her lack of navigational aptitude. She's convinced that the local islands move around, and that the hallways and rooms in the fortress shift and swap places at night. (Not that either of those would be too unusual in the Starfall Isles, but in this case it's not true.) You never know when Galakonur might come barging into your den, thinking it's the dining hall. At least she can usually find her way back outside before hunger or dehydration sets in, though that has occasionally involved smashing through a window when she just couldn't find any of the flight exits.

Perhaps that's why she gets along with Amphitrite so well. The two can bond over their shared lack of navigational aptitude. Or maybe they simply happen to get lost in the same direction often and thus have a lot of time to hang out. Regardless, Galakonur is responsible for making Amphitrite's clothes as aerodynamic as possible. Her ability to reduce wind resistance on a scarf is frightening.

You know not how close to the Truth of my Changes you are.

Few would think Galakonur a fighter, but a few dragons have seen her stalking about in armour before.
