He's an entity/spirit of wind bound into the form of a dragon
Lives on a cliff above the town of Iasos, overlooking the ocean
Has a vast magical ability, great control over the wind/air
Ancient being
Dislikes other dragons (mortals with short insignificant lives to him)
Very salty and sarcastic, but knowledgeable
Seeks to break the spell holding him in his mortal form, which is the reason he lingers near Iasos because Alexius is a master mage who has the potential to break the curse

Above the cliffs of Iasos lives an almost god, and he is tired of immortality. His many years are like a weight around his neck, dragging him ever closer to the ground with each passing moment. That in itself, too, is a tragedy.

It is not so much that he wishes to die. Existence itself is hardly a burden when the days are passed pleasurably. No, the trouble is that Zephyr has been trapped in a physical form for a great deal of his immortal years, and with every day that trundles by, he craves his freedom even more.

Before this form, he was not free as a bird, but freer. A wind spirit of enormous power, he traveled the world on nothing more than whims, twirling along the currents of the sky as he pleased. He saw Sornieth from a vantage few are privileged to witness, at a scale so small that only gods could possibly view it as such.

And was he not a god? With the minor winds at his command and the major winds in his allegiance, he was alike to the Windsinger, possibly even greater.

But damn that witch and her machinations. She cursed the city of Iasos and its inhabitants while Zephyr was flying overhead, and as a result, he was caught in the warp and weft of her magic. It bound him to physical form atop the precarious cliffs, and while it did not strip him of the whole of his magic, taking on a tangible body is by far the worst thing that has ever happened to him. No longer can he fly free throughout Sornieth, wandering wherever he shall choose, and even worse, his connection to the winds is weaker. Not so much that he is powerless, but certainly enough that whatever dominion he once held over the air has waned. By now, perhaps another wind spirit has superseded him, and he despises that he now has blood to boil over the matter.

And to rub salt in the wound, his future lies in the claws of a child. This is perhaps the highest insult of all, as Zephyr would hardly be inclined to trust a mortal, let alone one that hasn't even reached the full maturity of its limited years.

But this child is said to have power beyond most mortal imaginings, and if that is what it takes to place Zephyr in the skies once more, in his rightful place, then perhaps it is worth staying in the region until that child can break the witch's dread curse. If it were not for this possibility, Zephyr would have taken his leave long ago, straining for some semblance of the wandering freedom he once enjoyed.

Iasos is the site of his fall from grace, though. He cannot leave until he is at last restored.
