Blessed by the Plaguebringer herself.
Keza never saw it as blessed; cursed always seemed like a more accurate description. Raised in a community of strictly Pearlcatchers, the infection that spread across her face made her a target by unkind intentions. Many saw her as a defect in the community, their noses pointed in the air, she was lower than them and didn’t deserve life around them.
Early in her life, just prior to the age she could survive on her own outside of the nest, a group of Pearlcatchers had chosen her to bully. Cruel words were spewed and while Keza did her best to keep her head to the ground the group had taken her pearl -- her soul -- and to this day years later she had yet to see it. Yet to find it.
It wasn’t until she was able to leave the community did she realize just how far her mental health had fallen.
After losing her pearl the young Pearlcatcher had grown numb to the world around her. Interactions with others were little, and if she were asked she wouldn’t be able to say what happened between then and now.
Keza had stumbled on her way, day to day, finding a pack of other dragons with none of her own kind -- aside from stone statues she wouldn’t know actually breathed. She found the land of Shadow to be welcoming, if not strange in its ways.
The clan was no better, mysterious in nature with secrets at every turn -- but at the end of the day they were family.
Her family?
Not long after she had been welcomed into the clan residing in the Fox-Fire Brambles she was met with the Bonestriders of the wasteland of Plague. Close allies to her new found family, and also… the home of her new found love.
My soul? I haven’t had it in a very long time.
It’s since been long lost to me, not by choice. But how can one find what is gone?

Destroyed, or otherwise. Keza would most likely never find her pearl again, but that was okay. She had found her other half, the part of her soul that she hadn’t known she would need to find -- and that was enough.
