Charismatic, cunning, smooth

Ridgebacks are infamous thieves. Shadow dragons are infamous liars. Onyx embodies the worst of both in one package.

Using her regal bearing and royal garb, she schmoozes with gullible dragons. Few can ask the right questions to put her on the spot and make her halt her plans. She works by discreetly pocketing valuables when her hosts' backs are turned, targeting pieces that are unlikely to be noticed until it's too late. Despite her hulking size, she can steal without being detected. She employs telekinesis to move objects right into her waiting claws, and sends her trained familiar to seize faraway objects for her. These treasures are passed off to one of her contacts to be fenced in other regions where they are unlikely to be found again.

You'd think that more dragons would be wary of a Shadow flight Ridgeback, but her public persona is so charming and convincing that she wins the trust of many clans. She has mastered the art of flattery: young or old, male or female, Onyx knows just how to butter them up.

She has been accused many times, but none have successfully caught her in the act. The goods are concealed on her giant body, held by her hidden familiar, or even swallowed in desperate cases. In the end, she tends to retire from social occasions early to hide the loot.

The Empyreal clan suspects her, but they too have struggled to pin definitive evidence on her. For now, Onyx is allowed to live among them, and she is very careful about what she takes from her long-term hosts. It's probably only a matter of time until she makes a mistake, but until then, she lives very, very well.
