______ Travelling across the mountain pass can be a treacherous venture - particularly in winter. The weather is unpredictable, and equally unforgiving, sudden blizzards reducing visibility to a mere handspan. Even if you survive the cold, one wrong step could send you plummeting to your death...

______ If you are fortunate though, you might see the faint light of a lantern amidst the snow. A mirage, perhaps? A hallucination born from your own desperation? Yet if you are brave enough to follow, you will find the path to be true.

______ When you stop, the light waits. When you pursue, it leads onward. Over the craggy slopes and shelterless peaks, winding down past the looming rock face, until at last the storm begins to thin and you find yourself at the foot of the mountains.

______ There is no chance to thank your guide. No chance, even, to see them. Perhaps you thought you caught the gleam of red eyes through the falling snow... but perhaps that was just your imagination. When you turn to look, the light is gone, and you stand alone on the empty path with nothing but unspoken questions for company.
