The Merchant

Merchant (night markets)
The Starwood Strand's Night Markets are the stuff of legend. Stalls lit by moonlight and the glow of the blooming trees offer wanderers a chance to purchase the extraordinary alongside more mundane wares made magical by the setting. The merchants who ply their trade here are an unusual bunch: some say that they have spent too long beneath the glimmering birches, and begun to believe their own illusions. Others call them nothing more than tricksters and con artists ...


Citta hails from the floating markets of Flotsam Town. She hatched on board a traders' barge with bartering in her blood.

Everything that can be bought or sold passed through her claws as she honed her craft, and she eventually gained a reputation. She found she had a way for brokering deals that left all parties with exactly what they wanted or needed, between dragons and clans, sometimes without even needing her disparate clients to meet.

  • Loves rainy weather, though not storms or drizzle - gentle spring showers are best of all
  • Night time is best time! Basically nocturnal, except for the necessity of trading by day. At her best between 9pm and 1am, does not fuction well before 10am.
  • Luxurious but not above hard graft and physical work. (Actually likes those things!
  • Not just a pretty face thx
  • Loves the Starwood Strand.
  • Buys Lundlaevungar goods to sell at the Night Market, and advertises for Lundlaevungar services (e.g. Skald's manuscript and book making, Nera's translations).
  • Not a hard seller. The gentlest seller. So gentle you don't even know there's anything for sale until you're handing over your treasure/gems ...
  • Relies on her Water intuition - it's not really prophesy as such, but she does get 'a feeling' about things. She uses it to "know" where to find just the deals she needs.
  • Never buys for treasure. NEVER. Buying for treasure is sacrilege. (Happy to sell for it, though.) (The only exception is the Lundlaevungar, her clan: she'll pay those crafters in treasure for their wares.)
  • Quote: "Never pay in coin for what you can get in kind"
  • BFFs with Corvus, who counts her money for her and keeps it safe
  • Flirty bisexual but romantically leans more sapphic. Kind of femme enby? She/Her is always fine but sometimes she wakes up and feels more masc and presents that way. Enjoys confusing people. (Would answer "are you a boy or a girl?" with "yes" always.)
  • Uses her Skydancer abilities to read people. Uses her Water intuition to get a sense of what they want/need (and where to obtain it).
  • Reputation for being able to (legally!) acquire anything. ANYTHING.
  • Has worked with Mimir in the past, but prefers legitimate dealings and kind of looks down on smuggling a little bit
  • Trade Style:
    1. Citta has birch logs and wants grain
    2. Clan A has grain and wants berries > Citta agrees the trade and goes to find berries
    3. Clan B has berries and wants ironwork > Citta agrees the trade and goes to find ironwork
    4. Clan C has ironwork and wants birch logs > Citta trades for the ironwork!
    5. Citta works her way backwards, trading ironwork for berries and finally berries for grain to get what she wants! Woo!
