Musts of the Marketplace

As the programmers of Flight Rising is rewriting the site codes, the marketplace will be reborn in the future. When, how it will look and how the features work will be revealed to us then. As of writing this, we still have the "old" marketplace. When the address in the top says "www1." it will have been rewritten, like this dragon profile.

MP is short for the marketplace. It is not to be confused with a PM, which is a Private Message, or message for short. The marketplace is in turn divided into two "separate" stores: Items for gems, the Gem MP, and items for treasure, the Treasure MP or just MP. I will make one section about each. In general, the marketplace is where you buy items from the game itself. AH stands for the Auction House, where players buy from other players.

Dominance Discounts

In short, when your flight has Dominance, or DOM for short, they get 15% off Marketplace Treasure items. They don't get any discount on gem items, which is another reason not to buy available gem items of the AH. If you want a cheap item, the DOM discount won't be much. But if you have saved up to buy something expensive like a gene scroll or a bundle, waiting until your flight is dominant gives you a sweet pile of leftover treasure. Or you can send treasure over to a trusted friend whose flight has dominance when yours doesn't. DOM shops are forum trads where players of a DOM-flight take on missions from players of other flights to grab them specific discounted items. Tips are appreciated on their side, but not mandatory. There used to be a lot of DOM shops, but they seem to have died out after Flight Rising started to continuously admit new players and the amount of different items in the MP outgrew the restocking time. They also stop when no one ever gives them a tip. Which is understandable.

The Treasure Marketplace

In the treasure MP you get some unique items and some you may find in chests or the coliseum. Every 2 hours the store will empty completely. Then, every 5 minutes, each tab has a chance to restock random items at a set quantity. New items will have a boosted chance of appearing as well as a highly boosted amount. This boost will typically last a few days to a week depending on the item.

Both MPs have the same categoriy tabs:

Apparel and Bundles: All treasure MP apparel are available as single pieces or in bundles, which are full sets. You don't get any discount on the bundles, which makes buying single pieces more economic if you don't want the full set. However, waiting for a specific single item to restock is a nightmare.

Familiars: Most of the familiars in this section can drop in the coliseum, which is why they are almost always cheaper in the AH. There are a few MP exclusives, and I recommend buying these when your flight has the DOM discount.

Battle: Most if not all may drop in the coliseum, which used to make them very cheap in the AH. Then the Hibernal Den and the tasks to unlock it made their entrance and now the prices are quite even.

Specialty: Here you will find the majority of genes, breeds and vistas. There are also some backgrounds and the very cheap but MP exclusive gene remove scrolls and common eyes.

Skins: This section is empty when there is no elemental holiday. During a holiday it may restock the winning usermade holiday skins. Ca. half of the skins are MP exclusive, but it will be able to restock all except the brewables.

The Gem Marketplace

In theory this means you can get unlimited copies, and this is true for the Gem MP. All normal gem items are available all the time. There are limited editions, but they always cycle in after some time. The exception for this rule are skins. Gem items are expensive, but you don't find them anywhere else in the game except from other players. Roundsey will offer gem MP items now and then, but the chances of winning a specific item from her is slim unless you spend more treasure on tickets than the item is worth.

Many players resell gem MP items in the AH for a higher price. I still don't know why anyone would buy a Sköll (gem familiar) on the AH for more than the 250g it is in the gem MP, but I assume it is ignorance. If I want a gem item and they sell it for the same amount in the AH, 250g, I buy from the AH because then another player will get the gems and be happy. Many also buy gem items and sells them on the AH for treasure. This is ok, but as a buyer you should be aware of the current gem to treasure ratio. You'll find it in the forums by looking at a few treads of players who wants to trade gems and treasure. It is often cheaper to trade treasure for gems, then buy the item at the gem MP instead of buying the item for treasure in the AH.

Both MPs have the same categoriy tabs:

Apparel and Bundles: All gem MP apparel are either gem exclusive or a unique recolour of a treasure set. They are available as single pieces or in bundles, which are full sets. You get 10% off on the bundles, which makes buying a bundle worth it almost all the time because excess pieces can be sold in the AH. New items might even appear on sale the first few days.

Familiars: There is not really much difference between these familiars and other familiars. The only real difference is the price tag.

Battle: This section of the gem MP has always been empty.

Specialty: Rare breeds, rare genes, eye vials, backgrounds, vistas and pose changers may be the most well known, but there are also items that give breeding advantages.

Skins: For a longer period of time, some skins will be available. This has typically been around 1-2 years. Then they retire. Sometimes this section is empty for weeks, or even months.

Shooting Star
Completed XYX gene project

Watchmaker | Economic | Patient

With grandparents from all around the world, and parents born in yet two more elements, Shooting Star was named for the long journey and merging of the elements that had led to her birth. Thankful to her ancestors she has taken upon herself to learn as much as she can about Sorniet's flight's customs and languages, festivals and origin. If you want your hatchlings to learn of the making of the world, you sent them over and she would recite the tale while filling a customer's order.

She hoards books of tradition and knowledge, trinkets from all over the world - including deity sculptures, traditional robes and jewelry. There are also tools, grease, gears and other clock making parts, of course. Visiting her is like a miniature museum. There is also the display of finished pieces and exclusive decoration you may order for your unique watch. She makes everything from pocketwatches and intricate medallions to granddragon clocks. She does not make the wooden cases for these herself, but she does everything that has to do with the clock mechanic and decoration. Leaf gold is one of her favourites.

Shooting Star was born a female banescale with beige basic, lapis basic, beige basic and nature common eyes. I put a scry in her bio, and completed it under a year later - yay! She got skeletal and alloy 7th, and poison and swirly eyes 21st of jan 2021. She is now complete. Her accent was worth it, and she has had it far longer than her genes. When she was complete, I showed her off in the dragon share forum.
