Alai is the clan's scholar and master curator. Despite aligning with the lightning flight, he chooses to spend his days inside a museum or library, reading books about the history of Sornieth. With every piece of knowledge he gains, his powers multiply, all of that information fueling his magic. (He thinks the glasses make him look "scholarly." Seirian disagrees. She thinks it makes him look like he's a child, much to his irritation.)

His favorite authors are listed on his lineage. (Rosemary, TerraCotta, Dapple, Foliage, and Periwinkle). There is no doubt that these are pen names.
