Caustic is a character from the game Apex Legends. He is one of the eight main playable characters (Legends) that came out with the game on February 4, 2019. He was one of two locked characters--the other being Mirage--obtainable by using Legend Tokens or Apex Coins. Caustic is one of four defensive characters.



Caustic, along with Gibraltar, has a special passive ability called Fortified. This ability reduces damage taken by 15%, because Caustic and Gibraltar are easier to hit Legends. They also do not take the effect of being slow while taking fire.



Caustic's main passive ability is Nox Vision, which allows him to see enemies through his noxious gas. This ability does not work against other Caustics. Caustic will not take damage from enemy traps, and can still see through enemy gas.


Caustic's tactical ability is his Nox Gas Trap. He drops canisters of gas, which can be triggered by enemies or shot to release gas. Six traps can be active at once, but they can be destroyed by shooting the base. Gas traps ignore shields and deal health damage, disables enemies from sprinting inside the gas, and obscures their vision. Your squadmates are not affected by this.


Caustic's ultimate ability is his Nox Gas Grenade. He throws a grenade that releases a cloud of noxious gas. This ability has the same effects as his Nox Gas Trap, but covers a larger area. It's a useful ability to cover up reviving your squadmates, to flush out an enemy squad from hiding, or to hide in and heal yourself.
