Being a bright, vivid green, it’s shocking that Luminesce survived to long in the harsh wastes of the Plaugebringer. A prodigal child, she rarely stayed in one place for long. She learned to blend into the background, to make herself so detached that she was forgotten. Over time, Luminesce became little more than a faded memory. To some, she even ceased to exist. It’s hard to hold onto yourself when not a single soul acted as if she was there. For moons, she drifted wherever the harsh breeze would take her. After a time, she came to haunt the much cooler, darker forests of the Shadowbinders domain. It was there that she was seen once again. By now, the Coven of the Evening Star has put down roots and established territory. It is known as a powerful, but reserved clan. Still, it is one not to be trifled with. It’s assassins always lurk about the main lair, and their eyes were blessed by the Shadowbinder. Trained by Ameria, they scour the forest for any potential threats. It was Elegys - a silent, old skydancer - and Lostas - a prickly mirror - who finally noticed Luminesce again. They were on their way back to the lair when a bright flicker caught their attention. At first, they dismissed it as as odd will o’ wisp. After a moment, however, it was Elegys who recognized the familiar shape of one of her own. Quietly, she made her way over, snapping a few twigs to announce her presence. She softly called out, and the uncertain shape became more clear. Despite Lostas’s protests, Elegys herded a disoriented Luminesce back to the lair. There, she was settled with her unlikely savior to reacquaint herself with the material world. Now, Luminesce helps Elegys communicate with beings who exist just out of sight. Deep in the forest, she makes pacts with the other side to protect her new home. She has won over Lostas, even though they butt heads. Through her work, she even rescued one much like herself, a dragon trapped in a world unreachable my most. She found solace in a dragon who only went by comfort. It’s an odd “end of the line”, but better than most. Better than Luminesce ever thought she would find. |
