She had first come to him a gruesome mess of rotting skin and broken bone, of twisted limbs and jagged teeth, of boils and growths protruding from her body. In her hideous eyes, among the agony, was a fierce determination. A fiery rage and a gaze that might wilt others underneath it out of fear. Not Marik. He took her in, fed her, tended her wounds, and nursed her back to health as best as he could. Though the infestation plaguing her body never fully healed, she appeared to embrace it. To others she was disgusting, but to Marik, she was beautiful. His Rakgi. His queen. |

Marik's heart swelled to see how Rakgi grew stronger, smarter, and how she ruled those now serving under her. They worshiped her as the deity Plaguebringer, and who was he to tell them any different? He embraced this lie and sometimes found himself believing it himself.
He was always by her side, aiding her with whatever she needed, serving as her right hand man. As more dragons flocked under her rotting wing, he was more than happy to keep them in line. A well placed claw, a sharp bite, and a withering stare did wonders for quelling any rebellion. And for those that did rebel...their flesh only made the others stronger.

When their camp was attacked and Rakgi taken, Marik went into a frenzy. He searched day and night, not eating nor drinking, not resting, in his panic to find his rotting queen. He swore that he would not rest until he held the hearts of those who dared to take her from him in his claws.
The rest of her Horde shared the same passion. Drost and Kanriss especially took it hard and Marik felt proud that they were just as angry as he was about this blasphemy. All of them worked together to track down the captors, but it was like they disappeared without a trace. They were nowhere to be found.
And neither was Rakgi.
But they would not give up until they had her back.
