The Weaver

Nightweaver is a humble dragon with an elegant personality. Many of his clanmates look at him admiringly as he sways with a gentle gait, down the clan’s main grounds each evening.

He is a dragon admired by all, especially the youth. They call him ‘The weaver.’ The weaver spends his days teaching dragons how to paint and sculpt. The arts are an integral part of who he is, as an individual. The weaver doesn’t teach for wages alone, but for the thrill of spreading magical insight to those that he takes under his wing.

The youngsters wait eagerly each day to enter his chambers. He has designed a separate room within his quarters for the purpose of teaching. The students are never late.

But there is more to the weaver than what meets the eye.

“Sir, may I please be allowed inside? I apologize for being so late,” a young spiral stood at the entrance, blushing at her toes.

“Well, dearie, there’s about five minutes left before today’s lesson begins. So I’m afraid you and the rest of your classmates are far too early.”

“Oh, that’s a relief, sir!” She blushes, still, not meeting his eyes.

“Come on in then,” weaver says politely.

“Let’s begin early and I’ll let you all off as quickly as I can. There’s an important meeting this afternoon and I can’t miss it no matter what.”

“Oh! What is it for?” asked the curious students.

“I’m afraid we can’t discuss it yet…” says the weaver, before approaching the board set up in front.

“Today, we are painting … self-portraits! I hope you have all tried to sketch your own features before.”

The students stare at him, as though hypnotized.

“But before we get started,” he turns to the board and quickly draws a hand mirror. He waves his hand over the drawing, puts his fingers on the handle of the drawing and pulls out an actual mirror from the drawing.



The classroom erupts in thundering claps and howls of amusement.

“You may use this to get a better look at yourselves!” he says as he pulls out more mirrors for each student, from the drawing.

“What a dreamy guy,” whispers the female spiral to another student beside her. “Oh absolutely, he is such a dream…” agrees the other.

“I bet he can make dreams come true too,” says the spiral.
“He’s already my dream come true,” giggles the other.

Everyone loved the weaver. Males wanted to be him and females wanted to be with him.
He brought art to life, literally. And this made him stand out from everyone else.

But his power isn’t just used by the clan to teach youngsters art and to perform magic tricks.
The weaver works closely with his clan’s defense team. His powers are sought after by many of their enemies but in vain. He helps the clan design some of the most formidable magical weaponry. But he only performs these tasks at the night, when his powers peak. Hence the weaver is known as the Nightweaver.
