Like his partner Felicia, Jacob is a vampiric butler, immortally sworn into a life of servitude, something he takes seriously to a fault.

A former bandit, Jacob was saved from lethal punishment when he sold his freedom to a Lord Noirvous who was a vampire himself. Along with Felicia, the lord turned the two into his vassals and they served him beyond their years until he was forced into hiding. The servants were entombed in a secret vault where they would eventually reawaken to serve their master again. However, Noirvous was discovered and disposed of, leaving the servants sealed away unaware they wouldn't be found until generations later. One of Viral's expeditions found the tomb and Chimera was brought rather hungry and feral vampires.

They were cured temporarily of their bloodlust by Andale who found the two lost in a new modern world. He convinced Chimera their servitude could be useful in exchange for weekly dosages of blood and shelter. She agreed and now they serve her loyally, the two acting as her personal bodyguards if need be. Jacob in particular has a fondness for summoning magic mosquitoes from his flesh which are just as voracious as he is. He takes his position as sternly as he ever did, having little patience for unfinished work and lollygagging. He is a gentle giant around Felicia, who taught him the ropes of refinery.
