Family. Quarth had long stopped considering his clan his family. They would act as though they cared and wanted to make him feel as if he was part of them, but something felt off. He felt like he was meant for something different. His father left when he was a hatchling, leaving him with his mother, and, later in life, his stepdad. His mother always watched over him closely, but he wanted to spread his wings and live a life that was worth living, which meant he would have to leave behind the world as he knew it. His mother, since he was the only thing she had, held him close and tried to keep him dependent on her, and when he suggested that he would like to leave she became angry and yelled at him. Through tears and void arguments, she tried in vain to keep her son by her side, but Quarth knew that if he wanted to be his own person and become who he wanted to be he had to leave. As the Spiral grew up he noticed more and more sketchy characteristics about the clan he had grown up in and when a dragoness came to expose the leader and the cultist attitudes of the dragons within the clan. As the young dragon watched his clan crumble around him he saw his chance to escape and find a place to truly belong. Quarth and his moss-covered golem left without a second thought, towards a new life. A life without strange rules and double standards. He would finally be able to grow as a person and become truly free.
