Words that first greet the young Banescale's ears when he is found cowering upon the brush before a Mirrored dragon that is, at the time, twice the size of his small form. She is intimidating with scars littering her body and heavy armour that seems closer to second skin than protection. There is war in her eyes and it scares him when he first sees it. Blood rests on this dragon's maw and Kratos is confident that his is next. He has no parents of which to save him and no place left to hide as he coils and hisses defensively in the abandoned nest of Wind that he rests in. The world is cruel and he knows it well. He knows that a dragon would need no reason to kill him if they saw fit. So when this Mirror's maw of blood and anger lashes down at him, Kratos expects his short life to end thrashing in the mouth of a monster. What he gets is a rough grip to his torso that lifts him even as he struggles, held in this strangers mouth and carried. His heart is thrumming in his chest, threatening to escape and end him there but as minutes roll by, he finds no pain nor sudden end in this jaw. Instead, he is carried miles upon miles over lands he had never seen to a virulent waste. At the time, he was too young to know what those first few words to him meant nor the heavy weight they would play in his future. He was raised a proud warrior, carried upon the wings of an older dragon that had seen more war than he would ever (she hoped) and when the time came, Kratos knew he would be ready for whatever fight landed upon him. Kratos would see his acidic maw stained for this new found-family of his and there would be hell to befall those who found his clan with sneering maw's and teeth of rage. There was no devil alive that would dare stand before him and live to tell tale. Nobody gets left behind And he would remember those who would be forgotten. Such is the nature of war and such was his nature. Proud, stalwart and Protective. This was his life. A second chance and a change of fate. |
