Biography

DOGWOOD.
faces of grief. || she/her. || 21. (?) ||

_____________________
———— To emerge alone into the world is a frightening thing. Dogwood came into being when magical energies coalesced in the soil of the Mournlight Grove and she rose from the earth, greeted by a carpet of moss, birdsong, and the veil of perpetual twilight.

Unaware of her divine nature, at first, she soon discovered the depths of her bond with the grove. Flowers bloomed at the sound of her whispers, and thickets of trees parted before her as if sensing her intent and politely gesturing for her to pass through. The birds began to sing of her sacred presence, freely imparting their wisdom and observations once they noticed that she understood them. As the fledgling spirit matured and came to know herself, her power only grew.

And as Dogwood interacted with the grove's visitors, she soon discovered that she could impart a little of her power onto them in the form of minor, temporary blessings. Word began to spread of the Mournlight Grove's goddess, who could conjure medicinal herbs used to treat any illness, and bestow the weary with renewed life. She offered these miracles freely to anyone who sought her.

However, Dogwood's power only extended so far. Soon, she found that the only affliction she could not reverse was death.

Those who she could not offer respite to in life, she allowed to rest in the grove, vowing to atone by watching over them for eternity. And it is there in the Mournlight Grove that Dogwood remains, offering blessings to those who would help her guard it.
