One of the most brilliant dragons at Home, Errai is the Head of Svartálfheimr Hall and the school's head potionmaster. Responsible for designing the curriculum for his Hall and for all potions and alchemy classes, he keep himself busy, and considers himself the protector of his Hall. A protective, if mysterious and aloof dragon, newer students often take quite some adjusting to him due to Errai's cold, aloof, and rather intimidating demeanor - so much so that his assistant Head of Hall, Tyr, often blocks out time in his schedule at the beginning of every year so new students can come to him to put their suspicions to rest when they inevitably come to believe Errai is actually some kind of dark magician infiltrating the school. Despite these rumours, Errai is known to his students as an excellent professor, and his colleagues on the faculty board value his unshakable loyalty and are proud to consider him a friend.

- Biography
Born to one of the all-Dark Sclera Clans dotting Sornieth, Errai was raised to believe he was inherently better than other dragons. Born to the Demonic sect, a group of dragons who believe themselves created directly of the Shade, he grew up thinking he was incapable of being a good dragon. Errai was told as a hatchling he was only half Dark Sclera, with a common-eyed father, meaning he was often teased and belittled as a hatchling for being a "half-blood." This most likely laid the foundation for Errai's growing hatred for Dark Sclera society and their blood purity, and he defected as a young adult. He worked briefly as a spy in Dark Sclera society for the Light government, at great personal risk, and still willingly volunteers to act as a double agent to rescue Dark Sclera defectors when needed. Although he'd rather not talk about those things, Errai's established bravery is a reason the other professors tend to get prickly when newer students question Errai's character. An extremely gifted alchemist, he was invited to become the Head of Svartálfheimr Hall as well as Home's chief potionmaster after he settled permanently in the region.

- Life at Home
An excellent teacher, Errai's wealth of knowledge in alchemy and potion-making is not lost on his students. Though one of Home's youngest professors, Errai's talent is wide-ranging, and he is considered one of the most skilled dragons of his age. Aside from his skill in alchemy, which is instinctive and prodigious, Errai is a gifted potion-maker - an ancient art requiring the blending of magical objects which can easily go dangerously wrong, potionmasters are rare and the title comes with a great deal of respect. Outside of his subject, Errai is an accomplished magician, capable of complex and difficult magic, and even dabbles in spellcrafting in his spare time. He is responsible in no small part for the reputation of Svartálfheimr students as being drawn to dark magic, as he will never pass up the chance to teach his students curses or jinxes when asked. Like his fellow Heads of Hall (though they'd never admit to it), Errai can be a bit partisan when it comes to Hall pride, and is devoted to ensuring the success of the residents in his Hall, never allowing his students to accept anything less than their best.

- Relationships
Errai tends to be an immensely private dragon and view outward signs of emotion as personal weakness, making him an extremely difficult dragon to get to know and giving him a very cold and calculated demeanor. His younger students often find him frightening, and he has a sharp tongue and tendency to snap that does little to alleviate their worries. However, he can be a surprisingly soft dragon, asking students to stay behind for a chat if he's worried about them, baking them cookies when they're sick, and generally showing concern for their well-being in his own quiet way - something that quickly earns him the trust of his students. The other members of Home's faculty proudly call him a friend, and though new residents sometimes distrust or dislike him based on his personality, his fellow faculty members would trust him with their lives. His students, both those in his classes and those in his Hall, absolutely dote on him. Errai is a trusted advisor for his advanced students, and is especially close with Omen, one of his potions students with whom he shares a similar backstory. Errai's students report that he is easily their most protective professor. Recently, his relationship with Itai, another Head of Hall with a similar backstory, whose much kinder and gentler personality often helps blunt his sharper edges, has become an open secret around Home.

- Personality
Withdrawn and solitary, Errai can often seem cold, cynical, and sarcastic. Like his good friend Minerva, the Head of Niflheimr Hall, he had no need of lessons in classroom management - he possesses a natural presence that exudes gravitas and authority. Errai places high value on being logical and elegant, enjoying alchemy and potionmaking for its difficulty and precision and rolling his eyes at loud, impulsive magicians. Though an immensely skilled magician himself, capable of some of the most advanced magicks known to dragonkind, he prefers not to show off, and uses a more subtle, restrained magical style. He keeps his emotions very close to his chest as a rule. If he allows you to see what he's feeling, he wants you to know. He's been known to pretend he doesn't hear questions he doesn't like, tends to panic when asked personal questions, and becomes so mortified when complimented there isn't really a point to it. Errai's cool and collected demeanor makes him a very hard dragon to upset, but he has an explosive temper on the rare occasion he's properly enraged, making him a dragon whom it is unwise to irritate. His oldest students can tell stories about times he's helped protect Home from dangers such as dark magicians and monster attacks, and say his anger when his students are threatened is something to behold. Cold personality aside, he is also an incredibly loyal and courageous dragon, and has proven time and time again an unconditional willingness to put his own safety on the line to protect Home's residents. Though younger residents often find him terrifying at the best of times, Errai is a much-respected and much-loved member of Home's faculty.
