Biography

Name and Title: Daichi, Demonic Warrior of the Royal Guard

Background: Daichi grew up as a normal hatchling, or as normal as he could be, anyway, what with being an ancient species revived to modern-day times. He had a normal childhood. He made friends, got into fights, had crushes -- The whole nine yards. Things changed when he grew up a little bit. After getting into a physical fight with Pathera, almost leaving the head of the guard blinded, Agion banished him out of the clan. He was escorted out of Dragonhome completely, taking him back to where he came from; the Sea of a Thousand Currents. Nobody there wanted him, either. He was unable to join another clan; news about his banishment spread quickly. If Agion saw Daichi, a banescale which she so admires, a threat to her clan, who's to say he won't hurt others too? He was chased off the territory of a clan near the Scarred Wasteland; they drove him towards the Plague-infested area in hopes of him getting sick and dying a lonely, painful death. What greeted him when he arrived, however, was a hundred times worse than death. A shade-touched creature, whose sanity was more or less still intact, warned him away; if he got too close, he'd become shade-touched too. He thought it was just delirium causing the creature's fear. He approached it and quickly recognized it was an older hatchling; not quite full-grown, but no child either. As the hatchling warned, Daichi felt a freezing chill come over him as the Shade joined him in his body. The Shade made him stronger than he already was. He started getting into fights with beastclans and dragons alike. He didn't care who died; as long as it wasn't him, anyway. He fought and he fought and he fought, until news of his survival reached the ears of Agion. Wondering what happened to the young dragon she'd banished years earlier, she went to find him. And find him she did. He caught her scent and began stalking her, following her through the Scarred Wasteland, to the clan's old lair. When she had settled down for the night, he finally decided to show himself. She was shocked, obviously. She had been searching for him for so long, only for him to find her? He moved into action quickly. With sadistic black eyes, he pounced on her, tearing into her flesh, mauling her as best he could. Soon enough, Agion came to her senses enough to fight back. It took a while, but soon she had him pinned, fury blazing in her eyes.
"And to think I was planning to invite you back to the clan!" She snapped. The words shocked him. Agion wanted him back? After what he did to Pathera? Agion huffed as she stepped off the banescale, glaring at him. "Do you want to come back or not?"
"I'm a demon; do you really want me?" He grumbled. Agion just snorted.
"A shade-touched dragon is stronger than 10 trained warriors," she commented. "Besides; Oaku thinks she found a way to keep a shade-touched dragon sane; possibly even reverse the effects. Come back, and prove yourself to me. You'll have your home back." The pearlcatcher was making sense; if whatever concoction Oaku made up would keep him sane, perhaps he'd be a good asset in Agion's guard. He could help out his former, and hopefully future, clanmates. He'd work under Agion and Pathera, doing all the dirty work nobody else wants to do, if only he could go back home. Agion just snorted at the confusion on his face and shook out her head, pulling her pearl out of a satchel she had brought along. She held it out to Daichi. "Protect my pearl while we return. That is your only task. If you can manage that, you'll be allowed back into the clan. I'm trusting you, Daichi, because you show strength I can only wish for. If you come back, you'll be added to the Royal Guard. You will be trained with our recruits, and if you survive, you'll be a warrior alongside me. You and I will go to battle together, stand back-to-back, protecting each other until each of our enemies either dies or flees. You and I will be stronger together, but only if you can prove to me that you're trustworthy. We will rest here tonight, then return home in the morning."
Home. All Daichi really wanted was a home. He wanted to go back to where he came from; he wanted to see his friends, maybe find a beautiful wife, have children. He just wants to go home.
Their journey took a few days. Daichi carried Agion's pearl constantly, no matter how heavy it seemed, and refused to let Agion take over. Agion let him be after a few attempts to help him carry it, she knew how heavy it could feel, but he was too stubborn. He needed to prove that he was worthy of Agion's trust. The only way he could do that was to protect this pearl. When they arrived, Pathera was there to greet them. Despite the scars that made Daichi flinch, the other pearlcatcher seemed excited Daichi was back. The banescale was led to a nest, where he collapsed, exhausted from the journey, and curled up around Agion's pearl. Agion sat next to him while he rested. In the morning, he began his training.
Within a few months, he was able to hold his own for a good few hours against Agion. Within a year, he could defeat the pearlcatcher. Soon enough, there were rumors that he was trying to take Pathera's place as Head of the Guard. He had no such ambitions though. He just wanted to make his clan proud, and he succeeded.
