Biography
|
Vashinide is the great Matriarch of Voidlight Clan, the first recorded instance of True Divinity arising. Some may scoff at such a claim, remarking on what pure arrogance it must be to think anyone could lie closer to godhood than the Eleven. Yet to those who have witnessed the radiance and might of these Gods close at hand, it makes far more sense to venerate and adore Them rather than supplicate to forces far more remote and uncaring. Indeed, thusly are the Eleven termed by the Temple of the Void: Forces of Nature. They do much for the sake of upholding the stability and integrity of the World, but far less for the humble creatures who creep upon it. Therefore, many have turned to Vashinide and Her Blessed Family for protection... and for divine love. For many, many long years - thousands, perhaps - it is said that Vashinide simply wandered across Sornieth. Every once in a while, some clan or another would report sighting some ghostly figure for a few moments in the dead of night, and thereafter basking in a feeling of pervading calm. It was the same calm which lived in Her very veins, the calm of waiting without anxiety. Patiently, patiently She waited, preternaturally patient in just the way that can only come from some deep, serene Knowing. She Knew that She was only half of what She was meant to be, that the snow of Her spirit waited for solid earth to affix itself to. Without this other part of Herself, the seeds of Her grand visions could never be planted. So She waited. After such a very long time of searching across the land -- at last! At last! A spark in the air struck a great, blazing fire in Her heart the moment She came face to face with a hulking beast of a Banescale, a terrific presence that seemed to come climbing out of the very earth itself just to meet Her. Wild and untamed, this creature hadn't even a name to tell Her -- indeed, it scarce spoke a word -- but She could feel the Divinity in this Other, and Knew it to be a match to Hers. So She took it in, loved it, showed kindness to it even when it bared its teeth. This other soul responded in kind, softening in time until Her Goddesshood was revealed in full. Vashinide took Arconiste as Her Wife, and the two retreated into a fold of Shadow territory to give birth to Their shared dream. Though the two have since encountered much heartbreak in the course of ruling Their domain, it seems to weigh so much lighter on Vashinide's heart than on Arconiste's. And though both share Their firm, even stern expectations out of those who serve Them, it is known quite well that Hers is the more forgiving, lenient temperament. It is like She takes on the sufferings of others and lets the passage of time wear the frozen chunks of pain into a liquid, soothing balm. Like so few others of Her standing, too, Vashinide just may have mastered the art of overflowing Her own power into Herself. Her calm lives within and without, and all the Valley basks in Her sweet glory.
