Biography

H E R Z C H E N
GODLING OF ATTRACTION
♫ despacito - luis fonsi ♫

No one quite managed to keep track of exactly where Herzchen came from. People began to idly pass stories back and forth -- that She was born out of a pure moment of love between the Mother Goddesses, or perhaps the combination of Their power with Goddess Arrigoscya's when She united Them in marriage, or maybe even just the coagulation of all the love in the clan. But then again, Her real origin doesn't really matter much to anyone. Above all, the worshipful dragons of the Voidlight Clan are just overjoyed to be in the presence of such a Goddess, a princess of love and lust whose very presence seems to ensure that dragons who are meant to be together end up drawn to each other. Some buoyant couples would swear that they would never have come to the Valley at all had Her call not reached across the land to pull them into the arms of their beloved.

An important point must be touched on, since some have formed a dire misconception that Herzchen is a Godling of Love. This is flatly incorrect. Her power actually has very little to do with love, and does not exclusively concern itself with romance or sexuality. Anyone can be magnetized to each other with a touch of Her power: friends, mentors, father and daughter figures, and even bitter enemies. It is Fate's design for certain dragons to be aligned with each other on some spiritual level; what Herzchen does is amplify this resonance so that dragons have no choice but to acknowledge it, one way or another. Where a relationship goes once the spark has ignited is beyond Her control entirely. She certainly makes no guarantees of love. That, in Her mind, is a force so powerful as to be untamable even by the mightiest God.

Of course, She also has no desire to meddle with something so treacherous. Though the little Godling's sweet face may bear the illusion of youthful, carefree energy, on the inside lives a mature, embittered woman. She gives very little weight to fantasies of love, for, by all appearances, Her own power has doomed Her to live without it. As with the other Godlings, Her body is frozen into the shape of a young child's, caught in a place between the mindless adoration incurred by hatchlings and the fervent passions induced by full-grown dragons in their prime. No dragon is capable of being drawn to Her in any kind of fashion; indeed, save to supplicate Her as their Goddess, She seems to escape the notice of most dragons entirely. How on earth is it even possible for a Goddess to be invisible? is what She often incredulously asks Herself. No answers come. Yet nonetheless, it seems to be true.

So as the days stretch out before Her, Herzchen surveys from Her lofty Temple window as the Valley swells and unfurls with love anew. Friendships blossom on the boardwalk's central plaza, couples share romantic dinners at open-air restaurants, months-old hatchlings chase each other 'round with chattering glee... and She is alone. One might understand, then, why She scoffs and scorns at the concept of romance. Herzchen would hit the roof and sail over the moon if anyone so much as offered to be Her friend. Something, anything... some sign that She was worthy of the same affections and attentions as any other dragon. She longs to be grown, sleek, slinky, beautiful and adored as the epitome of attractiveness She well ought to be. For the most part, She has learned to abandon hope, but a fragile sliver yet remains lodged in Her heart...
