Amaranthine

What‘s this mysterious dread you feel, you ask? It almost feels as if it‘s growing on you, the closer you get, the more you feel a slight, unexplained heaviness. You‘re unnoticed to any life in the cave as you approach the cracking depths. Something appears to be luring you into its unknown path, gorging for victims. On the ground you notice a pale blue egg that’s left seemingly untouched. Its leaking emission is foreign to human scent so you wisely convince yourself not to interact. It‘s unfamiliar enough to leave you questioning. Ahead is an open ravine that leads down to a glow cave. You begin interrogating reality - is this a dream?

Large spear-like whips cut through the narrow edges along the ravine. Something has awoken as it was dead silent moments before. Adrenaline pulses through your blood, the air is increasingly shallowing onwards. The walls of rock are shattering like glass as you crawl into the fossilised narrows as you beg to decide the solution to survival. Demonic-like screeches travel through the air causing chills through your spine. It’s quiet… you’re eager to enter the threatening abyss below as a chance to escape - though a second thought clouds over - you’re human and you don’t have the ability of respiration. You question if it’s worth the risk. It is dangerous either way, after all.

You deeply inhale, preparing to swim. You can almost taste the salty body of water as you are dipping into it. It feels magical - a trail of plankton produces glowing specks that light up along your path, noticing your presence.
