'Heavy is the head that wears the crown.' When you stand on the knifes edge of destruction and salvation, unsure of which way you are poised to fall, introspect strikes in the strangest of places. One has to ponder how a smaller Mirror with no family nor friendship ended up where she did. How she ended up laying prone with a blackened maw hovering inches from her much smaller, bloodied skull. There has never been any recollection of a family prior to the group that looked on in horror as the monster, once a hardened Guardian, began the motion of lunging. Two sets of eyes shut and Pox merely offers her body willingly to the Plaguebringer; accepting whatever turns of fate had lead her here. Trust. Except there are noises of movement and a scuffle; an angered roar of outrage and betrayal. Most of all, there is borrowed time to open her eyes and watch as others come to her aid. Why? The only saving grace, Pox muses, is the one ally upon her side was an angellic Ridgeback. A healer. There is blood seeping across her large form but her claws are sharper and much more deadly than even the Guardian anticipated. He is drove with a fervor and madness that scares Pox at the time, rendering her pinned to her spot. Mutely, she recognizes there are two at her side and guiding her away with a stolen relic in tow. Maybe in introspect, she would not have taken a Guardian's charge so callously as spited revenge for his actions but she did, and knows well that she still would. Underground, it remains in the small hovel of her home. Some quietly herald her foolishness as that salvation but Pox knows better as her eyes lay upon that crown every day. It is only time before it brings destruction back to their door. |
