Diode

One of the first hatchlings after Flair reawakened. A tiny, bright spitfire on a quest to bottle lightning. She saved Astra once, and lead the first three true fighters through the Coliseum.

At this point she's one of the pillars of the colony. With Sovari's arrival, she's spending less time in the Coliseum with young dragons, now venturing out with Astra and Aine to scout the colony's path. As the wildclaws have grown stronger and more sure of their abilities, Diode's role has shifted toward support, keeping her companions strong and their enemies dazed.

She'd been working on this for nearly a year, talking to Lightning engineers when the colony was near the Shifting Expanse, collecting what components she could find, and, when those scraps proved less than useful, learning to work metal herself and make what she needed. When the colony travelled over more industrial parts of the ruined plain, Diode would dive into half-shattered buildings seeking out the automata that sometimes still operated there. She'd captured a few, her own coppercoil creeper and Regent's black iron one, but she had always wanted to make something of her own. And now she had. Diode slipped the gauntlet on and flicked the shielded switches on it and the golem. She flexed her claws in the glove and shielded her eyes as energy arced across the table. The little golem twitched, but it was still a limp pile of joints and plates. Diode scampered over to it and picked it up, stretching its wings out to inspect. She put it back down and rapped hard on its power core, which snapped into its proper place with a blue spark. The golem twitched again, then pushed itself to its feet in front of her. It chirped, another spark popping between its jaws, and Diode sat back with her frills twitching in satisfaction and delight.
