Other names: Sunset, Sun-Strider, (Ethereal) Dusk She is dusk in dragon form, able to see many things when she looks into the setting sun. Most of the time, she keeps to the shadows, and hides from everyone, even her allies. Those who know of her existence believe she has been dead for a long time. She is the adoptive mother of Chi. After thousands of years alone and in isolation she found happiness again in raising a dragonling. Immortals always have a specific, elaborate symbol on their back which resembles something about them (connections, elements etc), and it's the "source" of their magical wings as well as the core of their magic. An immortal's wings are not made out of real organic matter, but rather they are pure magic even if they appear as something natural (such as feathers etc).

Immortals refer to the symbol as their "seal". In wyveri / draconic the word for it is "emera".

Sunset / Arvalis is one of four celestial immortals, or the sérafin, manifested from the sun.

The seal is only vulnerable to damage from very strong magical attacks / weapons. If the seal is damaged, the magic it holds will become unbalanced until mended, and its owner may lose their wings and become unable to cast magic. If the seal sustains enough damage and is broken, its owner will lose all their magic and die.

Immortals are capable of "de-materializing" their own wings at will and appear flightless, but there is usually little need for that.

Immortals can possess a mix of up to 4 elements. If an immortal has more than one element, one of them is dominant while the others are secondary. Their eye color always represents one of their elements. They cannot lose or gain elements; what they are born with is what they will live with forever.

Immortals manifested, most commonly, from different magical surges / anomalies / instabilities all over the world, thus making them 'natural' in a way, unlike archangels who were knowingly created by their respective deities. Very few other sources of immortals exist.

Thus, most immortals do not have parents or other biological relatives.

Immortals born from magical anomalies first began appearing when the magic of the world was thrown out of balance upon the warring of the deities, and once again upon their reawakening. As time went on and the magic settled, less and less of them were able to materialize. In the current day of dragonkind, new immortals manifesting from anomalies is unheard of and the phenomenon is assumed to have ended.

For a mortal to become immortal, very specific circumstances need to be met where the individual takes on enough pure immortal magic that they will form a seal upon their back. The necessary circumstances can vary greatly and cannot be planned for. Any attempt to force ascension to immortality will end in failure and great harm to the recipient.


They will have spawned with at least one object that they hold very dear such as a weapon or piece of clothing. The objects in question are made of highly concentrated magic and cannot be destroyed by normal means. This only applies to immortals that were manifested within magical anomalies.

They have different purposes depending on what their source is, but it's usually to do with protection. Some are meant to protect mortals, some a location, some a specific object, etc. With enough willpower an immortal could, however, choose to ignore their calling and even go against it.

They will always help and work together with other immortals, seeing each other as somewhat of a family. At most, they will have friendly rivalry. Only through corruption can they be driven to harm each other.

Important to note: immortals, with only very few exceptions, share no biological relations. Thus, while uncommon, they may pair up with other immortals.

Immortals always possess incredibly strong magic and physical strength / skill, rivaling that of archangels. Their heightened senses allow them to be aware of everything around them at all times. They do not need to eat or sleep but can choose to if they desire. Their powerful reserve of magic protects them and thus they are able to survive easily in environments that are unsuitable for mortals.

Most immortals are, at least to an extent, also capable of:

Communicating with animals
Ambidexterity
Attuning themselves with their surroundings
Sensing and understanding others' emotions


They used to be much larger in numbers but were hunted relentlessly by archangels. As immortals began appearing throughout the world, many of them bold enough to become friendly with mortals, archangels took notice and were swift to deem them a threat due to their unknown sources and immeasurable magical capabilities.

Some immortals fought, some of them ran and hid, their population culled to a degree at which they were rarely found anymore. In the modern day of dragons, most consider their existence a mere myth.
