Eostre

The first touch of spring breathes new life into the world. Beneath the ice and snow, green plants begin to grow. A bud appears here and there. Grass begins to unfurl. The grey bark of the trees begins to hint at the green to come. Ice cracks as frozen lakes and rivers begin to thaw. A steady dripping can be heard as snow begins to melt.

The world is caught between two seasons - winter and spring, dark and light, ice and nature.

This is where Eostre makes her home.

In the time between seasons she walks the earth. Ice and frost cling to her scales, but beneath it lies a touch of spring. Silvery patterns of rime decorate her wings. Her eyes gleam with the bright green of nature unleashed.

She pads softly across the snow. In her footprints, grass springs to life. A cool breeze accompanies her, fresh and bright with the promise of the life to come. The smell of it lifts the spirit and warms the heart.

Her time on Sornieth is short. She only appears for a month or so out of each year. A glimpse of her heralds the end of winter. Within weeks of her appearance the last snowfall will begin to melt. Once the ice has cracked and the frost has lifted she will disappear...until the next year. No one knows whether she makes her home in the nature domain, or hibernates in the ice realm...but year after year, without fail, she appears.

And every year at winter the dragons of Sornieth search for Eostre. The longer the cold season goes without a sighting of Eostre, the more disappointed the dragonfolk are. Word of a sighting spreads quickly across the realms. To see her is a joyous occasion, for it means winter will soon end.
