Clan Patriarch

--Ophan and the Birth of Clan Vervain--

Born an odd, shimmering white in a shadowed land, Ophan spent the better part of his young life standing out whether he wanted to or not. He was quick to drag himself, tooth and claw, up the ranks of respectability in the Driftwood Drag. Strong willed determination despite any odds stacked against him, and a willingness to throw his all into any task at hand, slowly but surely won him a reputation for being able to hold his own, and a string of connections throughout the Tangled Wood in the process.

With the help of Tesla, a then green Lightning clan wildclaw hatchling, he dug out the beginnings of Clan Vervain, a modest expanse of land in the deepest corners of the Drag. Under his eager ambition and Tesla's innate aptitude for military organization, the clan quickly began to grow, collecting all numbers of oddities along the way.

Clan Vervain is run by a council of experienced dragons in addition to Ophan and Tesla. Named among them is the current Matriarch, a sardonic skydancer named Corrinne. Ophan has also employed the family Éaven as the backbone of the clan's mercenary forces, freeing many of the clan's resources for less militant and potentially unsavory purposes.

Clan Vervain is now a sprawling, multi-factioned clan on the outskirts of the Obscured Crescent. It's home to dragons from all walks of life and all corners of the map, boasting a thriving military training program and expansive trade hub, along with several interconnected ventures within the clan.

--Father of Angels--

Now reaping the rewards of a successful clan, Ophan never forgets the clan's grim beginnings, or the rocky events that have brought him to this point. Never one to dismiss a solution that would benefit his cause or those in his charge, he sometimes finds himself on the underbelly of what some might consider moral high ground.

As is fitting for a dragon born in the Tangled Wood, he has a tendency to gamble with good intentions but not always favorable results.

In the past this has cost him several dragons close to him, a few of his children ranking among them. Learning the difference between being a solitary dragon eking out a survival and a dragon with lives depending on him was not always an easy transition.

With experience, he's found less necessity for recklessness, though he keeps his past as a reminder of what is at stake.

Within the clan, Ophan is seen as a paternal figure to most, and inspires loyalty and respect with his open personality and philosophy that any voice that cares enough to be heard ought to be when it comes to clan matters. He enjoys playing hunting games with clan hatchlings, training new hunters and fighters, and tending to the sprawling lineage of bog canaries that he started raising years ago.
