seeker, my friend.
i know you are traveling, but i have been thinking of what you said the last time we spoke, and i haven't written a letter in a while... i figured i'd tell you what i can, all in one letter as a testament to our history.
the haven of the all-seeing moon used to be much grander, as you already know. a distant paradise atop floating islands high over the ocean. and yet, a walled city. surely, that must inspire curiosity, as to why the founders felt the need for such high defenses- armed guards and multi-layer walls, not to mention zenosyne.
did they ever let you down into the basement? at one point, it was the only underground thing on that island. later came the expansion of the underground, labs and storage. something awful, it's origin unknown. they went through so many processes to keep it down there. then, even later, the underground expansion everyone knows about, the sprawling, labyrinthine city, and the archives.
one day, the founders of the haven of the all-seeing moon, along with the aurora and their charges, disappeared. the natural conclusion i come to is that whatever was down there that they tried so hard to keep hidden took them away somehow, as punishment for keeping it there. but something about it feels wrong.
the founders magic was keeping the floating isles our haven resided on tethered together at a high altitude. after they disappeared, the isles fell and we had to choose what to do without them. so we left.
honestly, it felt a bit needed. we were expanding at a rate that was... unprecedented, an entire society of our own in what was nearly elementless territory. tensions had started to rise between groups in our haven, what was supposed to be a safe, conflict free place. yes, i think what happened needed to.
we traveled, skirting the edge of the scarred wasteland into the tangled woods, then visited the sunbeam ruins- particularly the hewn city, and followed that direction over the cliffs and into the shifting expanse.
a lot of us split off, or got lost, or simply didn't wish to keep traveling. some of us, just a clawful really, suffered memory loss. i don't know what from. i've asked axo, and oolong, and shuga, and none of them have come back with anything concrete.
i apologize that this does not end on a lighter note, but i hope this information is useful to you. keep yourself safe, i'd hate to lose you.

rune,
i received your letter, though i'm sure you figured that out already.
i appreciate it.
i've been thinking about writing a book about us- about haven. so even when we fade, as everything does, they will remember us.
see you soon.
