Vakare was a beautiful young dragon, hatched from a special egg. As such he didn't have parents in particular, but Blossom, the clan leader, took him under her wing and tended him. This led to Vakare being almost spoiled, adorned with pretty pale pink cloaks, beautiful jewelry and doused in flower petals. Blossom even gave him the gift of a familiar, a princess petal gecko named France.
Vakare didn't have many friends, keeping mostly to himself, Blossom and France. He was smart, but school was difficult, bullied by his peers for not only being blatantly spoiled but also for being special in general. He tried to focus in school, but was often prone to almost narcoleptic tendencies, micro-sleeping through important parts of class. This was often times humiliating, with either the teacher waking him up rudely or another student doing so, causing him to jerk awake and causing the entire class to laugh.
Slowly Vakare found himself lapsing into depression due to his slowly falling grades and the constant pressure of being such a special dragon. Everyone expected Vakare to excel and it was getting more and more difficult to do so -- he wasn't sure how to reach out for help.
That was when he met another student, Osiris. A special hatchling just like him, but full of energy and happiness. He was a bright, beaming force in Vakare's life suddenly, and the two became fast friends. Vakare followed Osiris everywhere, enamored with him, and Osiris was always helpful to Vakare; it was Osiris who realized Vakare was becoming depressed and it was Osiris who found a mage to concoct a potion that would help with excessive daytime sleepiness. Slowly Osiris helped Vakare come out of his shell a little, taking him to the outskirts of the clan, bundled up in the snow to have snow fights and make snow angels.
Little by little Vakare came out of his depression, thanks to Osiris' help and Blossom's belief in him.
