______ "You really shouldn't spend too much time in there," The elder chuckled as he tended the stew, "Least you singe your wings."
The hatchling merely yawned, stretching with an arch before settling back into the bed of coals under the pot, runic script along his hide pulsing in time with soft breaths as he absorbed the heat intended for their dinner.
The old dragon merely smiled at his newest charge and continued cooking, enjoying a calm evening.

______ "I think this is as done as it's going to get," the elder mused, stirring the pot one last time before reaching for the bowls, "Up now, youngling."
Sleepy, flame-blue eyes blinked up at the Guardian with all the sorrow a day-old hatchling could feel. The abject misery projected by such a tiny dragonette was absurd enough to send the elder Guardian huffing and wheezing with laughter, much to the bogling's dismay. For being removed from a warm bed was the worst cruelty the hatchling could imagine.
