Once upon a time, Sirelia was a prosperous kingdom with an eager young ruler ready to take the reins and make his mark on the world. Things were peaceful and calm, and everything was going smoothly as Costello was coronated as the new king. From the time he had hatched, his family was adamant about him being the greatest ruler Sirelia had ever seen. He had been educated on politics and proper etiquette and everything in between, and when he had finally come of age he couldn't wait to get started and turn the kingdom into everything he had wanted it to be.
It turns out, ruling a kingdom in the real world is much harder than ruling one you made up in your head when you were young. Costello soon found it difficult to keep up with everything that needed to be done around the kingdom and also put his own plans into action. It was certainly a lot for a young dragon to handle, and he simply couldn't take the heat. He grew tired and irritated, making decisions on a whim without thinking of the consequences. This put quite a strain on the kingdom, especially when it came to relations with others. He found himself making a number of enemies, but he didn't care anymore. He didn't want to be king anymore! He just wanted to be happy... Soon enough, he saw his chance. He met a wonderful girl and ended up marrying her, the two eventually having a daughter of their own. They named her Lyra, since her beauty matched that of a lyre's song. The young princess soon grew older, and Costello found himself more than a bit distracted from ruling the kingdom to raise his new pride and joy. Lyra was a beacon of light in his life of darkness, and he wanted to do all that he could to protect and care for her. Ruling the kingdom fell more and more into the backseat... A detrimental decision on his own behalf. One day, while he was out on a trip, he was assassinated by an unknown enemy to the kingdom. Lyra was suddenly left as his successor, barely having a second to mourn before she had to begin to fix her father's mistakes. Now Costello's spirit wanders the kingdom, eternally regretting his neglect of the kingdom and keeping an eye on Lyra. He just hopes she still loves him after she finds out what a horrible ruler he really was... |
