Dryad of Forests
|
The nymphs of trees and forests. Some of them had their life force bound to that of a specific tree, usually the loftiest in a forest, or one in a sacred grove of the gods. Dryads of of ash-trees were called Meliae. The resilience of Ash wood assures it is used in all sorts of products; it is famed for its strength. The tree itself is often linked with strength and power too, though it also relates to ideas of perception, rebirth and wisdom. According to Norse mythology, the Ash tree stretches from the underworld to the heavens. In this way, it links the three realms. The idea of the Trinity is often linked with the Ash, with other symbolism referring to the perception of past, present and future. |

-None have ever heard the voice of Waipoua, never was she born mute, but the vice which tangled her snout like a fierce rope left her unable to speak, yet it didn't bother her, as the silence is something she prefers, enjoying listening to the chittering of the birds and the movement of the trees as they swayed in the blowing wind, instead of the useless chatter of other dragons, which she detested with a passion.
-the vegetation on her snout leading down to her neck continuously grows as long as she lives, as it feeds off of her, like a succulent leech, living off the water she drank and the food she ate. When she was younger, she was a curious hatchling, but as the curiosity killed the cat, so did it kill she, leading her to her unstoppable doom as walked on the sides of a deep ravine, before one wrong step left her tumbling down. Her feeble body was washed away as a stream of water brought her deeper, but never would one expect for the water to lead to a hole of thriving vines, where normally many would die as unexpected victims would be eaten by sharp teeth, but they gave her another chance, for she was young, and found advantage in her young age. It was the vines who kept her alive, and in return, she did as such, living with the plants which encircled her entire upper body.
-She acted as mother nature itself, she would gladly help animals as they came to her, watching the young flourish and the plants blossom, she admired the life which thrived in her forest with glee, but through all beauty, there is always an ugly side. She felt no pity either, when she caused suffering, when she made life fall into the hands of death, when she made them feel both miseries and glee, when one would rip another, for the survival of the fittest. To her, it was natural, a balance between peace and agony, to keep the natural order working.
-She is a swift fighter, anyone who dared to ruin her forest or the life living inside of it, would feel soon feel sharp claws digging into their neck, as they felt their life slip away painfully. She believed only she could control who lived and who died, as she knew what she was doing, she kept the balance, and others who messed with what she was doing, messed up the equality. It came at no surprise, when death came upon them quickly. Often, after she had killed one who took a misstep, would leave their body to be eaten by the wildlife, for them to feast upon.
-She had no real personality, as the vines corrupted her mind, she became a mindless creature who concentrated solely on her work. She did have feelings, but not a personality, staying silent with a piercing glare from the shadows of the trees. Her cloths hid the vines who swarmed on her face, and helped her blend into her surroundings, to not be seen by none who passed through.
-She perches up in trees to sleep, but even when she is resting, her hearing is sharp, the tiniest scream of pain would lead her to rush to the origin of the sound, to protect her home. She knows how to fly in between the trunks and shrubbery of the forest, but she preferred running across the branches, with complete silence when doing as such.
-She loved all the wildlife, but especially the birds, for the closeness she felt to them, as they sung their songs and fluttered around with no care in the world, pecking at the ground in search of food. Their songs were like a soft lullaby to , and seeing them live their little lives brought her great joy.
