"What do you want?" She snaps. "Oh, my mistake, I did not realise you are new. I am Sybil, I have been here for a while, and if you need anything feel free to ask." Her voice drips with sacchrine genuineness. |
Do not be fooled by her friendly smile - it doesn't quite reach her eyes, and her gaze will always be cold and detached. She may sound kind and motherly - until you catch the condescending tone, only to realize she's looking down on you. She is never your friend - only your superior, whose calm and smooth voice barely masks disdain shall you disobey her orders or disrespect her.
In her past life, before she lost her name and gained a new one, Valefar was a council member of another clan, and due to her personality, one of the unspoken "leaders" alongside a dragon named Flauros. Together they made a powerful, and quite a vicious duo. To assist her with council responsibilities, Mercury - her loyal right hand, was often seen at Valefar's side.
As all the other members of the council, Valefar was chosen by Rhea.
That is, until she was ousted by Flavos.
The bogsneak was weakened, abandoned, and on the exalt row to join one of the deities, but that was not the end she wanted, not the end she felt she deserved. It was too soon, too cruel, and she wanted none of it. She would rather give up everything else and die trying to escape, than like this.
The anger, bitterness and desperation that she was driven by did not go unnoticed. Next thing the dragon knew, she was in front of a giant beast, in a place surrounded densely by forest trees, an unfamiliar voice in her head - if she gives up her old name, her past, and follows their will, she will get what she desires. To her, there was nothing to lose in exchange for the power that she craved so much. The choice was obvious.
Through the pact, she gained much and lost far more. Confused, but stronger than ever, her ... patrons ... kept their side of the bargain. She had power, but she knew not why she was here, who she was, what she was. And the patrons whispered sweet words into her ears, of more power, of knowledge of who she was, and of things she could not understand. And all she needed to do was free them from the cavern where they were trapped... Not knowing what else to do, she accepted their fervently desired wish, and traveled to <location name> to free them. She took on the name, Sybil, and asked to join in the fight to guard the world from that-which-lurks-below. There, she continues to worm her way through the ranks, seeking weaknesses and only desiring to undermine everything.
