Biography
A tired beast. A dragon of infinite lifetimes despite the age he claims. Sunstone gives the sense of always having been, and a sense of always going to be. His knowledge is deep, his memory impeccable. He always has a look of gleeful recognition, as though everything around him is humorously familiar. Sunstone is often found listening and watching as the youngsters around him explore their lives and ask for advice. His den is naturally lit during the day, with only one fireplace for the evenings, so it is often fairly dark. It was the house of a dragon that moved from the clan - forgotten and left to gather dust for a time, before Sunstone meandered through the door. The names in his "offspring" list are all different dragons' souls that occupy his body. |
Quote:
In our clan, I imagine he'd accidentally fall into the role of caretaker. He just wants to relax and live peacefully, but he can't help offering time or advice to someone that needs it. I'm imagining moments where Pyre - the matron of our colony - would be exhausted and at her wits' end, and Sunstone just gives her a knowing look from the sidelines. Pyre, being the type that does not open up to others, would find his presence a relief. She, being the silent type, would not respond to his advice, but he would be able to tell that he's getting through to her.
When he is not in Pyre's chambers, he is most often in his hut or around the open fields past the gladeveins, and folks come to him for guidance. He speaks very slowly and quietly and his eyes hold unimaginable depth. When one asks him his age, the answer is always different, and never seems quite old enough. He just watches those that speak as though he knows what they're going to say - as though he's heard it all before. I feel like I'd play around with the idea of him being the host of many dragon's histories, like he is ancient himself, but also the living embodiment of something like a pearlcatcher's pearl: he has a collection of lifetimes within him. I'd have to write some things out for details, but I like the idea of him being just...A Lot. Too much Universe for one body, yet there he is. |
