MAGPIE
"HEY! You wanna whinge in my kitchen, you can get the hell out!"



Despite her crass vernacular, loud voice, and belligerent attitude, Magpie is remarkably popular among the Burrows' staff. Children in particular seem drawn to her - her location is often announced with the delighted pealing laughter of little ears hearing something they shouldn't. It does help that she's friendly in general and is more than happy to make a special meal for someone should they request it (and perhaps offer her a little payment). She's also very aware of whatever complaints a guest might have and is eager to give the management as much crap as possible.

Magpie came from a very wealthy, classy family that focused entirely on appearance and dignity. A great deal of pressure was placed on the young girl, who was then a Coatl. She became very sensitive towards her looks, constantly stressing about having just the right feather spread and apparel. Everything built up into panic and despair until finally she broke down, bought a scroll to become a Bogsneak, grabbed simple housestaff suits, and ran off into the night. Life's been much better for her since then - it seems that simplicity and plainness has worked out in her favor.
