Biography

CROWN PRINCE and HEAD OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS As Sehanine's oldest remaining child, Vio is first heir to the throne- a prospect which used to frighten him. He’s had plenty of time to get used to things, now, and in fact finds himself executing the majority of affairs. He’s grateful for the amount of trust his mother’s put into him, and he finds that he’s actually quite suited to being in a position of power. His people thrive, his foreign affairs flourish, and the quality of life in Furvus seems to be pretty good. He’s aware that he has his mother to thank for the stability of his rule, because if anything were to go wrong, she would be the one guiding his hand and calling the shots. It’s a responsibility he’ll take up one day, but so long as his mother remains, he’s glad to be able to share the burden. Vio’s greatest joy in life is expanding his knowledge of the world around him. There’s nothing he doesn’t want to learn about-- be it nuances of ridgeback culture, magical theory, or the feeding habits of the average reef snail. His appetite for knowledge is truly voracious, and most of his free time is spent trying to sate it. He can often be found trading books and scrolls with the dragon Aziraphale, studying combat with Captain Caim, or training with magic underneath the Archmage, Henry. He conducts independent study by himself, or sometimes with the help of his two retainers, Shadow and Red. The three of them scour for all sorts of finds- books, scrolls, ancient artifacts, new things to be picked apart and studied. In order to assist with both his hunger for knowledge and the overall betterment of the clan, Vio devised a sort of ‘challenge’ for entrepreneuring dragons-- a crusade across all of Sornieth, hunting for magic scrolls, enchanted stones, dangerous fauna, and abandoned eggs. Royal duty keeps him at home more often than he’d like, so he sees the edges of Sornieth through the eyes of his chosen champions. He found Shadow on the edges of the Ashfall Waste nearly five years ago, starved half to death and barely managing to survive. Shadow was distrustful at first, aggressive and prone to lashing out, but Vio brought him back home and looked after him, nursing him back to health. Shadow warmed up to him, then, and wanting to stay close to him, offered his services as a vassal. Vio was more than happy with the idea, and took him on as his first retainer. Two years later, Vio and Shadow scavenged the Wandering Contagion and found another straggler- a coatl named Red. Red had been abandoned by his previous clan and had nowhere to call home. Vio took pity on him and brought him back home to help him, and Red fell in love immediately. He’s been two steps behind Vio ever since, attending to him and keeping an eye on both him and Shadow. The three of them are incredibly close, as in love as can be. They’re in a constant state of honeymoon, doting on each other all the time. Red and Shadow take incredibly thorough care of their lord, and Vio in turn uses his position to spoil them relentlessly. The three of them also often raise hatchlings together, eggs found and sent back from Vio’s champions. Vio considers himself to be shaky with hatchlings, but Red takes to them easily, and when they’re older, Vio passes on his skills-- proficiency with the sword, the bow, and magic.
