_____Following the sound of a sewing machine in the local marketplace or the Flickering Shadows’s labyrinthine lair, you may stumble upon a well-dressed imperial dragon with linen-grey scales. From his wings hang monochrome cotton flowers, shining examples of his craftsmanship; at his hip rests a pattern book, hand-written and well-loved. The dragon, Roarke, is his clan’s only tailor; he crafts for them new apparel, and mends older pieces. But he’s loved for reasons beyond his occupation - Roarke is a friend to all in need of one, lending a caring ear to any who want to talk, and offering comfort in times of distress; there’s always a crocheted blanket available for the cold, and tea ready to be brewed for the thirsty.
_____Though he appears to most as a slow-moving dragon, Roarke is almost constantly working on one project or another, often outpacing the needs of his clan. As such, the imperial gradually builds up a supply of extra items - a spare shirt here, an unneeded set of silks there. With this stock, he sometimes sets out to the nearest marketplace, offering his services and the pre-made clothes to the passers-by, delighting many with his skillful work, new pieces in progress even as he speaks with another customer.
_____Putting so much time and effort into his craft, Roarke has earned callused hands and an aching back; the thread unkind to his loving talons, and his spine unforgiving of hours spent leaning over tables. This isn’t a state he begrudges, however - he wouldn’t trade his job for anything, no matter the pains it may bring him. To see his clanmates suitably clothed, clad in colors of their choice, plenty warm and protected from the elements, Roarke feels that his life has purpose - that his fellow dragons are better off for knowing him (although he certainly wouldn’t say it).
