Saden

she goes on the Search terribly young. her mother is surprised, her father proud. before she can leave, the quiet ridgeback with the iffy vision expresses wish to join her. she isn't thrilled, truly, but obliges. they set off, drifting vaguely southward.
"you are my charge," saden says, already towering over akane at whatever very young age she is now.
"oh, no..." akane murmurs.
"oh yes."

bitter and hateful. besides the ridgeback from her birth clan, who she looks on with (x ambivalence), the only one of this clan she's found herself in that she professes not to hate is her charge, akane. she does hold a bit of bitterness towards her though for akane's unwillingness to be her charge.

akane is not evil, but could be mistaken for it with her magic. saden? well. she might be evil. sometimes she's afraid she might be getting soft, but just a thought of her mother's faceless grin is enough to remind her that the world is cruel. best way to survive is to be cruel right back. why is akane so stuck on protection? none of these people care about her.

saden doesn't really trust anyone.
