Biography

Mate: Crash

Asurvel sighed as she flicked deftly through her spellbook, gleaming obsidian claws shining with deadly potential. Her eyes scanned the pages, nearing where she knew the spell was...and it was there.
She smiled. It was not a good smile, but a rather malicious one.
“Hello, darling,” she murmured. “Today I’ll be using you. I know I’ve never done that, but it will be necessary for the battle today. I hope we’ll be able to turn this war in our favor.”
“Asurvel?” She startled before turning, grinning warmly at the sight of her mate Crash. He rubbed his eyes blearily with one antenna as he stood in her doorway before asking, “Are you doing spellwork again? I can leave…?”
“No, no, of course not! I’ll make time for you!” Asurvel placed the book aside, quickly memorising the spell. Deleret omnes inimicos. Destroy all.
Then she turned to look at Crash, and her heart melted. He was flickering around the edges, wings just barely glitching in and out of existence.
“You’re my beautiful little Glitch dragon,” she whispered breathlessly, before tackling the other Skydancer into a hug.
“I love you,” she whispered into his shoulder.
“Alright, alright, okay, you big softie,” he returned. “Now go destroy those villages. I’ll be here when you get back.”
Asurvel smirked, and her eyes flashed golden.
“Ianuae Magicae,” she whispered, and in a warp of magic she had disappeared.
Crash sighed contently, and murmured, “Godspeed, Asurvel. May the winds guide you.”
--
When Asurvel appeared on the battleground, the fighting had already started. Lesser witches clashed with the army before them, casting spells that were deflected off of swords. Lesser. Children, really, compared to her own ancient power.
Closing her eyes, the skydancer muttered, “Deleret omnes inimicos.”
Her violet magic swirled in her claws before surging outward, forming into spears that thrust themselves into her enemies. In an instant, the purple of her arcane powers had stained the grass a violent crimson, and the opposing army lay in pieces at her feet.
“Y’know,” she remarked conversationally, tongue darting out to taste the blood-filled air, “I thought you’d be more of a challenge.” She’d been seeking one for a long time. Too long, if you asked her, but it was rare anyone did.
The witches turned to her, and a few nodded respectfully before collecting the bodies of their fallen. Asurvel watched as ten or so small fires sparked within the mist of her magic, a result of the cremation of the dead. She sent a spark of fire magic into each and they roared to life, quickly engulfing the battlefield. Several bursts of energy signified the departure of each being from the midst of the flames. It was over. That was simple.
With a tired exhale, she recited, “Ianuae Magicae.” In a flash of violet, space distorted and air warped. When the disturbance settled, the skydancer was nowhere to be seen, the twisted, broken battlefield the only lingering sign of her presence.
--
Crash sighed as he felt the familiar surge of power that came with Asurvel’s mere presence.
“Hey, honey!” He called from where he was slumped on the couch, just out of view of her spell room.
“Hey,” he heard an exhausted murmur in return as Asurvel collapsed next to him.
“What did I tell you about using that spell? I said ‘No, don’t use it’ and what did you do?” he chastised playfully, claw already worming its way around his mate’s shoulders.
“Use it,” Asurvel replied flatly, eyelids already slipping closed.
“Exactly,” He smiled, before continuing, “it was a massive energy drain, and you teleported back here. I’m surprised you’re not wiped out in the middle of a forest somewhere.”
With a muffled growl, the other dragon attempted to swat his face, but only succeeded in lightly wriggling her forearm.
Crash felt an amused smirk decorate his features, and said, “You’ll have to try harder than that to hit me. I could just glitch straight through your shots.”
Asurvel gave no response besides an exasperated snarl and snuggled deeper into his side. Her breathing evened, and Crash relaxed. For all his teasing, they were still mates. He loved her, he thought idly as he slid into a more comfortable position. His claw began to scratch a soothing pattern over Asurvel’s feathers, but soon that stopped as well.
Soon, all that was left was the soft breathing of the two most dangerous witches to exist.
