Biography

Devin - The Greenthumb

Along with Basilius, Devin was one of the two dragons initially brought in by Zoroark as part of a project to make the Phrontistery more self-sufficient. Like his partner, he is rarely seen within the Phrontistery proper - he's usually out collecting samples, and on the occasions where he does return to the Phrontistery, he usually spends his time within the greenhouses and attached laboratories that serve as his and Basilius' workspace, only venturing out for food, or if he's summoned.

Together, he and his partner have cultivated a variety of plants, ranging from modified versions of preexisting species designed for greater yield, to selectively bred cultivars, and even some hybrid species. Of course, in all cases, ethical requirements such as non-maleficence and beneficence are adhered to.

  • When he's not patrolling, Devin can be found snuggled up in dense foliage, camouflaged perfectly amongst leaves and grass. He loves how secure he feels in these moments, and the point of advantage he holds over other dragons and would-be poachers. He does hate being forcefully dragged out of these hiding holes though.
  • Devin identify any plant by smell. ANY. PLANT. it doesn't matter if the plant seemingly has no smell at all; to Devin, it does, and he knows it by heart. Even if mixed in with food, he can smell out the plants that were added. This can prove extremely useful when checking for poisons, since he doesn't have to actually taste the food to know of a plant-based poison was added.
  • The sunnier it is, the happier Devin is. Granted, he doesn't get sad when it rains, he quite loves it, but he sort of gets energized when its sunny- perhaps this is a byproduct of his Nature-born abilities. Along with this, his magic grows much stronger when it's sunny, to the point of being able to make a tree grow from a seed in the blink of an eye if he's got enough energy. However, if it is too DRY, his abilities will diminish, or how he calls it, "dry up".
  • Devin loves water, but hates getting wet. He'll soak his feet and claws, yes, but he doesn't like getting his fur wet at all. This just makes him heavier and clunkier when trying to move through tricky underbrush, and he takes ages to dry due to his thick fur- which protects him from brambles and thorns. It's just a big inconvenience for him.
