INFORMATION
Midnight is a gaoler of the Seeker order. He first came to the Tangled Wood with his mate, Twilight, in search of a Shade-touched fae. After learning of the unusual circumstances surrounding said fae, he offered to assist the Nightwatch Clan in its mission to defend the Tangled Wood against the Remnants, declaring it was a noble duty. Reportedly, Whisper fainted in horror when Eerie agreed to let them in. Midnight and his mate occupy the heart of the dungeons. They share their lair. He finds the coldness welcoming, the darkness nostalgic. Like most gaolers, he does not keep a hoard, and in the beginning, maintained orderliness to the point of obsession, though, if not for observing the reactions of other dragons and how they maintain their own lairs, he would not have thought this to be unusual. Despite his menacing appearance and deep, rumbling voice, Midnight is sensible and well-mannered. He knows he has much to learn about co-existing with a modern world, and this tends to manifest in treating his clanmates with a cautiously gentle friendliness. He learns how to react to situations by watching what others do. In meetings, he brings a voice of rationality to the table, when he is confident enough to speak up. If not hunting down real Shade-touched dragons with the clan’s patrol, he can often be found doting on his mate, Twilight. Privately, he suffered a week of never-ending worries when they had their first nest – he feared he would be unable to love his own hatchlings, for they would be born without the blessing of the Icewardern, and would unavoidably bear the faint scent of the Shade. Until they hatched, of course, and marched their way into his heart as though it were an open door. He was right to fear he would be unable to love them – he adored them. It was that very night, cosied in a new nest lined with fluff and downy, with his sleeping mate by his side and his hatchlings dozing on top of their parents, that Midnight realized his stay at the Nightwatch clan had turned him what most gaolers would consider ‘soft.’ Peeking over at a warm ball of drowsy ghost-patterned fluff, only able to focus on the indescribable, slightly dusty, scent of newborn hatchlings, the endearing innocence and curiosity in their wide purple eyes, now behind peacefully-closed dark eyelids, he decided that there might be something to this ‘soft’ thing after all. |

IN BATTLE
This gaoler takes to battle with sharp reason and rationality. Precision is his game; he never wastes an attack. He is unusually swift and agile for a gaoler; built to track and chase his quarry, but suffers in durability and strength. His fine-tuned senses make him a valuable asset for seeking out the Remnants, as is his order. In a heated battle against a Shade-possessed beast, he will pursue and ground it, and harry it until the stronger dragons arrive to the fight. His ability to stay calm and do what needs to be done during a fight sometimes makes him appear to be fearless. While simply not true, there’s no need to let the other dragons know that.
